That has to be the worst fucking answer in the world. Do you think that's important? Did you just fuckin graduate 1st grade automotive. The proper response would be something like take out the a/c and drop it out the bottom, or maybe why I can't get the 5" long bolt out because it keeps hitting the frame. I would stay anonymous too if the advise I gave probably came frome my wife. Ant real mechanics able to help I would appreciate it.

OK, do not get excited. How is this for an answer?
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery
2. Remove the splash shield under the front of the vehicle
3. Unbolt the A/C compressor and position it aside, but do not disconnect the hoses
4. Loosen the tensioner bolt and adjusting bolt and detach the drivebelt
5. Remove the mounting bolts and separate the alternator from the engine
Installation is the reverse of removal.
Note: when you install a new alternator, and adjust the belt tension, and put everything else together, start the engine and check the voltage at the battery terminals with a direct current voltmeter. If the alternator voltage regulator is working properly, you should read about 13.5 to 14.5 Volts without a heavy load on the battery (If you switch on the headlights, for example, the voltage will drop slightly). Bottom line, you must have higher than battery voltage with the engine running, or your alternator will not charge. A fully charged battery by itself has voltage in the 12.3 to 12.8 Volts at the terminals.
As for the long bolt interfering with the frame when you are trying to remove it, pull it out as far as it will go, then continue dropping the alternator. This should angle the bolt enough to slip out.

That 's a good answer, but it's the same one that the hanes book has. I would really like to hear from somebody that has done this. as far as " pull it out as far as it will go, then continue dropping the alternator. This should angle the bolt enough to slip out" it won't drop out because of that screw. it'ws to long to do that. The altenator just pivots on that long ass screw. Not to be a prick, but if you haven't done this, or seen this problem, I really don't care for a reply. This is a job that requires experience, not good book reading skills, Thanks though, Stacy

OK, at the risk of getting my head bitten off,it sounds like that bolt may be in the wrong way! If it was the other way could you get it out? If so and it is too big a job to rectify, could you cut the bolt and replace it? Sorry if anything I've said offends you!!
