I have a slipping clutch on my '89 626 5sp. Does anyone have an idea what a clutch replacement should cost? I will probably take it to a local shop rather than a Dealer.

I think the last time I had a 5spd I paid around 150.00

In the US, the cost of replacing the clutch in your vehicle will be in teh $ 350 to $ 500 range. Be careful who you take the vehicle to if you do not want aMazda dealer to do the work. If I were you, I would buy Mazda parts and have them installed. The reason is htat there are some junk clutch kits out there that will not last and many shady "mechanics" who do not know how to do the work right.
