Usually, to turn engine light off, you have to reset the Computer by removing the fuses, wait 30 seconds and reclace them.. hope it can be usefull (in the other hand if your car doesnt start after having removed the fuses, try this : remove one fuse at a time, wait 30 seconds, replace the fuse) on some cars there is one fuse that you have to replace after all the others..

the first time you'll start the car (after having removed the fuses) the engine is supposed to stop, dont panic, its just the computer who set up the configuration, try to start your engine again, it will work !

If you want to reset your computer all you have to do is unplug your battery. Wait a minute or so and then reconnect it.
Make sure you start up your car and idle it for 2-5 minutes. This will ensure that your idling speed and air/fuel ratio is reset correctly by your computer. Otherwise if you just start it up and drive it, it will take much longer to get it right.

You may have a problem under the hood that has caused your check engine light to come on. I am assumming that your truck is running o.k. even though the light is on. I have a 2000 b-3000 that had the light come on for no apparent reason. The vehicle was under warranty at that time so I brought it into the dealer and they replaced the egr position sensor...25000 miles later and the light has not come back on.
I hope this bit of info helps you out.
