626 1988, driving lights won't work

Hi,

My Mazda 626 from 1988 (1.8l) has been a bit strange with the driving lights since I connected a cd-player in the car. They should come on automatically when I start the car, but after the cd player came in the car they just won't! In the beginning after fitting the cd player, they worked if i turned them on manually, but now they won't work at all(works fine in the back though). The beam lights worked as they should, and I noticed that the driving lights came on together with the beam lights. So what I did to have lights in the middle of the night, was to disconnect the cable from the beam lights so that only the driving lights stays on.
I've checked the fuses and changed the relay, but it's still not working. Any suggestions on what I should do, what it might be? Grateful for answers...
