My Mazda 323f exec 16valve H reg 1990 has recently been poorly, this is the 2nd time in 6 months with the same symptoms. It will start and run if the accelerator is pumped, but as soon as you try to rev at a steady speed it dies and stalls. The first time this happened I changed the fuel filter, plugs, air filter and distributor cap, the car ran perfectly. This time, 6 months later, exactly same symptoms. Managed to drive it home though, kangarooing all the way. Called out the AA who said 'mmmm I think your carbs knackered'. Two friends have taken carb apart and said it seems fine, but there is a thermo underneath it which is knackered, this has been verified by a Mazda dealer and a new part is costing me £140-170! Anyone else had this problem?
