I have had my "Check Engine" light on for about 15, 000 miles so approximately at 118, 000 miles. I have done a tune up, changed the fuel filter. I have left the positive wire off my battery for about 10 minutes. I've done that about 5 times to reset the "Check Engine" light but it is still there. Funny thing is, I haven't noticed it running any different when I first got it about 3-4 years ago and with 84, 000 miles on it. It runs great, I mean there is nothing noticably wrong with how it runs. There is a broken leaf on the rear of the driver's side, but I don't think that would set off the "Check Engine" light because that has nothing to do with the electrical aspect. I'm not too worried about it, but I have learned you get on what is wrong with vehicles when you see something like that if you want them to run longer. I would like to know what is setting it off. I'm about to just go to a shop here to have the computer scanned and see what that tells me. But, hey, if I can get something here without paying for the scan then I will. If anyone knows what it could be, please e-mail me at thegreatetienne@hotmail.com. I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

the check engine light will come on every 60,000 miles. so at 60,0000, 120,000, 180,000, etc., the light will pop on. what this is for is telling you to go get a good servicing for your truck. change the timing chain, plugs, wires, filters, and all that important stuff that we all tend to overlook sometimes. hope this helps before you run out and spend a lot of money on a scan! if you really set and think about it, the light probably came on at 120,000. nothing is going wrong with your truck, it's just a friendly reminder to get your truck "fully" serviced.
