Hi friends. Looking for some help around my keyless entry system that is a pain in my ass.

About 6 months ago, stopped working - checked battery, etc. - all is well. So, the dealer said that they would need to order a new one for me and reprogram for the bargain basement price of, you guessed it, $250. More than I bargained for.

So, my question is this: Can I buy an aftermarket kit for $100 or less and install it myself or will the current system that I have not allow me to do that or cause me major issues? Thanks for the help. This is my first time on this site and it is great.

PS - to the folks that have replaced the CV axels... yeah, me too - except the dealer gave me some crap about women are "harder" drivers than men and it was only a matter of time before mine had to be replaced. Thought it was pretty funny when I told him I was a mechanical engineer... with a master's degree...

Try looking on E-Bay for a remote key with the SAME FCC# as your key. It may just be a bad KEY or have you checked the batteries in the remote key?

I have a 2000 Millenia ME S that when I purchased it, it did NOT have it's key fobs.

I was forced to look in the trunk behind the rear seat on the left to find the Receiver's FCC#.
I then looked on E-Bay for the Key Fobs. I too 1st went to the DEALER just to find what they charged and yes $243.00 for 2 Key Fobs and NO Programming, that was $83.00 EXTRA.

Oh, I found and bought 3 Key Fobs on E-Bay, $25.00 - $15.47 - $17.56 GRAND TOTAL $58.03.
2 Fobs Included Programming Steps. This Saved me BUCKS, DID I SAY IT SAVED ME MONEY

In your case just look on the back of your Key Fob for the FCC Transmitters Frequency Number (FCC#????????).

Do a surch on E-Bay for your type of car and look for Key Fobs, just make sure that they list the SAME FCC# and you should be GOOD TO GO.

Step 1: Open the driver's side door, and then press the lock button (on the door) so all the doors lock and the security light comes on.

Step 2: Unlock the drivers side door by turning up the MANUAL Un-Lock switch on the door so the security light now turns off.

Step 3: Insert your key in the ignition and turn it to ACC position, and then take out the key. Repeat this two times. (remember to take the key completely out!) For a total of THREE times.

Step 4: Press the Door Switch THREE times. This switch is located on the door jam.
(BE SURE THE DOME OR DOOR COURTISY LIGHT GOES OUT WITH EACH DEPRESSION OF THE SWITCH)
The car should now beep once.

Step 5: Press any button on the remote. The car should beep once again.

Step 6: Repeat STEP 5 till ALL the remotes you have/want programed.

Step 7: Wait about 5 seconds and then the car should beep four times.

Step 8: Press the Un-Lock button (on the door) and NOW your remote is programmed!

Step 9: TEST ALL KEY FOBS FOR PROPER PROGRAMMING AND FUNCTIONALITY.

Step 10: Pay me $20.00 for these programming steps ROFL

Im looking for a replacement battery for the keyless remote for my 97 millenia - i see a sticker on the inside that says "Naldec 7C20A" but cant find a battery in radioshack or other stores that refers to a number like that.

Where can I find a replacement battery - its been without one for over a year, will I need to re-program it?

- Thanks

It may be possible to cross-reference the battery to another type or find one at an auto parts store, but it would probably be simpler to get a replacement from the dealer.

I think the code will be retained for a short length of time when the battery is removed. Refer your owner's manual.
