I live in Australia and am the proud owner of a 1984 Mazda 626 Diesel. I have been told that there are only 200 of these in Australia an I was wondering if anyone has another one or they know of someone who does. I am yet to start a web page but that will be coming soon. If anyone wants to reply or wants anymore information, I will do my best to respond to any replys made.

I am also in Aust and have a 91 626 supercharged Mazda, whereas yours is probably naturally aspirated, for which I happen to have a workshop manual! There are a few of us scattered around!

I'm in New Zealand and I was cursed with a Capella Profile Pressure Wave Supercharged diesel in 1992.
It promptly fell to pieces, soon after purchase (NZ$16,500 in parts), was re-built and fell to pieces again... so I turbocharged it and it got nasty and twisted up the cylinder head, so I replaced that with a new one and then it cracked that in at least three places which provided a challenge to an expert at stitching alloy heads together. I kept a diesel fitter in business (and Porsches!) for four years with that wretched engine. I nursed it along until it had a hissy fit and clattered to halt. So I junked everything diesel on the car and rebuilt it with a FE3N transaxle and turned it into a petrol powered Capella GTX which has now done 460,000 Km.
I would note that Capellas with the PWSCD were very common here, but now you hardly ever see one on the road. Car dealers won't touch them and quickly hang out the 'gone to lunch' sign if one pulls into the yard. I have seen an 84-ish Capella diesel rattling along the road in front of a pall of BLUE smoke.
When the PWSC goes to lunch, they become coal burners because of the over-fueling and the oil is washed off the cylinder bores and that's the end of them.
Mazda Japan, must have been pleased to see the back of them...they were a service nightmare.
I note that the new Mazda diesels in the 6 (not available here, but in the UK) are turbo diesels... Mazda must have finally seen the light!

I have a 88 Mazda Cargo [Capella]with the RF Diesel.it has about 400000 on the clock on its 2nd motor [cost $1450]so cheap motoring but lacking a bit of performance...supercharged model would be an improvement.
Have just changed the timing belt, any idea how to reset the Belt warning light?

There are two plugs on the side just above the accelerator pedal, look around you will find them, one is connected and one isn't! Simply swap them and when you get to 500,000 just swap them back and when you get to 600,000 swap them back again, and when you get to..........well you get the idea!
