my 95 millenia's sunroof is making a grinding-type noise when retracting and having trouble recognizing when it is fully open/closed. i don't know a whole lot when it comes to troubleshooting cars, but i managed to remove the headliner fastener around the sunroof opening and peek into the area that houses the sunroof's motor/mechanism to observe what's happening when the slide button is pressed. it looks like the tubular arms that dispense the cable/coil when opening the sunroof are rubbing against each other (causing the noise), and even when the sunroof seems to be fully retracted it keeps dispensing the coil until it no longer can (causing the arms to back-up above the windshield).
if anybody could offer any advice as to what the problem could be and how to fix it, i would greatly appreciate it. and also, if anyone could let me know how to remove/loosen the headliner paneling in that area (past removing the sun visors), that would be almost equally as helpful.
thank you!!!
