Now bear with me here. I'm 16, and I got a 98 red Mazda protoge inline-4 DOHC 16v engine in it. I just have a few questions.

Is there any way to tune my engine with out seriously taking things apart. I mean, ofcourse taking some things apart is understandable, I just don't want to have to un-piece the entire engine.

And the other thing would be, I'm not sure if any of you race here ( im sure someone goes fast everynow and then) Buit if I want to start racing a couple people tell me to red line it all the way and shift, but some people tell me to shift around 5000rpm. I don't know which way to go, because my tack on the rpm meter does seem to jump pretty fast near that red line zone, but when I shift, There seems to be a bit of a lag. but then again, that would be my clutch (which has slipped on my a bit every little bit) but when I shift at around 5k, it seems to gain a bit more speed.
