Headlights don't go on

I have a 94 Mazda 323 and the headlights when turned on do not work. When the ignition is on, the running lights and the day headlights are on but when I actually try to turn on the lights, they don't work. I looked at the fuse panel and it doesn't say anything about a specific fuse for headlights.

Any ideas ? I'll get the service manual but if you can give me an idea, that would be great.

Could be the headlight switch. It has sliding contacts imbedded in plastic, which could be damaged.

I had a look at the fuses under the hood and they all look fine but when I looked at the Clymer manual, it doesn't tell you which one it is. I will try a meter tomorrow and see if I can find one that's not working and see if that gives me the one that fault.

Is there any way that I could test the switch ?
