I need to figure out what components and what tests I need to run on this system I also need to figure out what P0505 means for a Mazda Protege 1996. I can not find the diagnostic codes for a Mazda Protege that concur with the OBD II machine I have. So if somebody could give me a link or point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.

P0505 means no continuity of idle air control valve circuit or Actual engine speed is excessively higher or lower than target speed preset in PCM for more than 14 sec. POSSIBLE CAUSE: Idle air control valve malfunction, Leakage in intake-air system, Open or short in idle air control valve wiring.
But most common problem is when someone plays with the išle setting crew.
