On my MPV 95, the headlights turn ON by themselves. The car is parked and engine stopped and key removed and sudenly the headlights just turn ON.

This week, when I whent to start the engine, the battery was completely empty, So I boosted it. Yesterday, my neighboor advised me that the headlights where ON. Here are the checks I did:

Checked the headlight switch:
At headlight ON, the headlights are indeed ON and the position lights are ON.
At mid position (position lights only) le headlights are OFF but the position lights are ON.
At OFF position, the headlights are ON but the position lights are OFF.
At OFF position but on High Beam, the headlights turned OFF.

I tried to figure where in the circuit the problem could occur. It seems to be related to the headlight switch but it is not a simple shortcut since placing the light on High Beam turns them OFF.

Anyone have an idea?

Yes, it looks like a light switch problem. I had a weird problem with the light switch on my 95 Nissan pickup. I only had high beams, low beams would not come on at all. Replacing the switch fixed the problem. There are sliding contacts imbedded in plastic in these switches and in time they can break or get misaligned.
