My 91 B2600 ticks on start up. Only if the engine has sat for an hour or overnight. It always goes away within 5 minutes of startup. I have heard it could be Hydraulic lash adjusters or carbon build up in a cylinder. Any advice?

It's also a problem with my 97 323 familia. Could someone help us with this? It's really annoying.

This is typical of HLAs. Sometimes they gum up; sometimes they get worn and leak down, and sometimes it's due to the viscosity of the oil. First try a "snake oil" additive recommended by your supplier. If this doesn't do the job, try an oil and filter change. Identifying and replacing a noisy HLA isn't all that difficult if it should become necessary.

You may also have a balance shaft chain that is not tensioned properly. I highly suggest that if it has not been serviced that you do so pronto, or you could end up with a trashed engine as I did with my B2600I. Mine only had 109000 mile on it when it PUKED! But I had not taken the small cover plate off from the front of the engine and checked the tension of the timing chain and balance shaft chains as they should have been checked. The cost to repair was more than I was willing to spend ($900.00 for parts only), so I parted out the entire truck. I still have the repaired front engine cover, just in case yours blows a timing or balance shaft chain and knocks a hole in the cover.
