Hi everybody. While I was passing a car on the highway, I accidentally redlined my 1994 Protege (manual transmission). The car redlines at 6000 and I am afraid, I overrev'd it to about 6300 rpms for about 3 seconds. How bad can it be ? Hope my engine doesn't fail soon. Does anybody know if there is a way to tell if I damaged the engine /transmission or not ?

I'd really appreciate any ideas, thoughts. Thanks a lot in advance.

I seriously doubt that you caused any damage. The redline is the maximum safe speed that you can rev the engine, but they don't usually self destruct if you briefly exceed this. Don't assume that you can routinely exceed the redline, however,'cause it's a warning that shouldn't be ignored.
