89 929 - brake light warning light queryJuly 23 2004 at 10:08 PM No score for this post | peterj |
| Intermittently the brake light warning light (the one that tells you a globe is out - not the fluid level one) comes on when you brake. The globes all appear OK. First day it happened, the battery went flat, but I cant be 100% sure that the door/interior light may have been left on overnight. After recharging no more flat batteries since.
As it presumably operates when one globe goes open circuit and the current draw goes down, I cant see how a short would cause it.
Any suggestions? |

It could be that one of the bulbs has an intermittant filament or there's a poor connection in one of the sockets. This will cause the circuit resistance to increase, decreasing the current flow in the trigger circuit and causing the warning light to come on.
I assume that with the 929 they're using a conventional relay in conjunction with a transistor amplifier, so I suppose a defect in this cicuit would also be a possibility, but it's not the first place I'd look. |

thanks for the advice. I think I might just replace all the globes and see if that helps. | |
