626 heater controls broken

I'ave a '97 mazda 626 UK spec. (as I'm in the UK) and the heater control controlling the fan has apparently broken. As its starting to get cool..I'm a bit desperate to resolve this. All I want to do for now is install a temporary switch to turn the fan on and off.

If someone out there has a wiring schematic and a couple of diagrams then I can manage the rest.

Cheers.
Sal.

It could be the switch, but the fan speed resistor block could also be defective. It's located behind a small access panel in the air plenum close to the glove box. Basically, the resistors are in series with the fan motor and vary its speed by varying the voltage going to it. The switch selects the appropriate resistor for each speed setting. The resistors are comprised of small coils of nichrome wire. A visual inspection should reveal any fault. Replacement of the block assembly is the typical repair.
