Hey,

I am looking at purchasing a mazda 929 (1992) from my mechanic... he wants $5,500 (AUD) and appears very straight on the outside and immaculate inside, my main concern is the 182,000 k on the clock... should this be a worry for me? when do the motors usually die (at what k's) and if/when the motor does die, what is the replacement cost.. any advice you can offer will be greatly apprecited... thank you

Mazda's are intricately made vehicles. When they brake it can be expensive. I have the same type of vehicle and I recently paid $2,200 for a rebuilt transmission and $2700 for a rebuilt engine. I think I'll answer your question with another question...are you willing to put $2500 to $5000 into the car should things start to break and still pay $5500?
