I have a mazda mx6 v6 that you can be driving and it will just cut off and some times it will come back on without doing anything. It can also be driven for hours without any problems but when you stop and cut it off for a while and try to start it back up all it will do is turn over, if you leave it there for a hour our so and try it, it will start, can you give me any help. (just thought you shoud know that I have already put a new fuel filter and fuel pump&strainer also a new rotor & cap)

It might be the ignitor module in the distributor. If one of these fails you either don't get any high voltage, or else what you get is too low to fire the plugs.

sounds like you need a new ignition module-mazda's need a hot spark to run good

Don't overlook a faulty ignition switch (electrical portion). These have separate contacts for "start" (starter turning) and run.
