My son has a 1994 Mazda MX-6 with a 2.0L 4 cylinder and an automatic transmission.
We gust changed the engine and now can't get the starter to turn over with the key switch. At first I found that the starter cable was broken, installed another starter cable and still no start. I then took a screwdriver and jumped the hot side of the solenoid to the coil and the starter turned the motor just fine.
Any Idea what could be wrong with it?
Thanks,
Andy

You could have a problem with the inhibitor switch, the start contacts on the ignition switch, or any associated wiring. Check the inhibitor switch first.

Are you certain that the PARK/Neutral safety switch is still working. With an engine swap it maybe out of adjustment. Just a thought.
