I just had my alternator replaced. Right after that I started hearing a cricket chirping sound which I thought was a belt issue. When I took it back to the company. They said I had a pulley problme probably and that they needed to order a part and once they replace it might find more stuff broken.

Is it possible that the cricket sound is not the pulley and if so what are we talking baout here for time, cost, how the oulley works.

I am not a mech but don't want to get riped off either.

It could be a pulley bearing. Also make sure the belt's not too tight.
