Hello All, just wondering what your thoughts are on this situation... and if this changes any of your feelings towards the capacity of George W. Bush.
This Is Your Brain On Drugs
By Teresa Hampton, Capitol Hill Blue, August 5, 2004
We have learned that President George W. Bush is taking powerful anti-depressant drugs to control his erratic behavior, depression and paranoia.
The prescription drugs, administered by Col. Richard J. Tubb, the White House physician, can impair the President’s mental faculties and decrease both his physical capabilities and his ability to respond to a crisis, administration aides admit privately.
“It’s a double-edged sword,” says one aide. “We can’t have him flying off the handle at the slightest provocation but we also need a President who is alert mentally.”
Angry Bush walked away from reporter's questions. Tubb prescribed the anti-depressants after a clearly-upset Bush stormed off stage on July 8, refusing to answer reporters' questions about his relationship with indicted Enron executive Kenneth J. Lay.
“Keep those motherfuckers away from me,” he screamed at an aide backstage. “If you can’t, I’ll find someone who can.”
Bush’s mental stability has become the topic of Washington whispers in recent months. Capitol Hill Blue first reported on June 4 about increasing concern among White House aides over the President’s wide mood swings and obscene outbursts.
Although GOP loyalists dismissed the reports an anti-Bush propaganda, the reports were later confirmed by prominent George Washington University psychiatrist Dr. Justin Frank in his book Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President. Dr. Frank diagnosed the President as a “paranoid meglomaniac” and “untreated alcoholic” whose “lifelong streak of sadism, ranging from childhood pranks (using firecrackers to explode frogs) to insulting journalists, gloating over state executions and pumping his hand gleefully before the bombing of Baghdad” showcase Bush’s instabilities.
“I was really very unsettled by him and I started watching everything he did and reading what he wrote and watching him on videotape. I felt he was disturbed,” Dr. Frank said. “He fits the profile of a former drinker whose alcoholism has been arrested but not treated.”
Dr. Frank’s conclusions have been praised by other prominent psychiatrists, including Dr. James Grotstein, Professor at UCLA Medical Center, and Dr. Irvin Yalom, MD, Professor Emeritus at Stanford University Medical School.
The doctors also worry about the wisdom of giving powerful anti-depressant drugs to a person with a history of chemical dependency. Bush is an admitted alcoholic, although he never sought treatment in a formal program, and stories about his cocaine use as a younger man haunted his campaigns for Texas governor and his first campaign for President.
“President Bush is an untreated alcoholic with paranoid and megalomaniac tendencies,” Dr. Frank adds.
The White House did not return phone calls seeking comment on this article.
Although the exact drugs Bush takes to control his depression and behavior are not known, White House sources say they are “powerful medications” designed to bring his erratic actions under control. While Col. Tubb regularly releases a synopsis of the President’s annual physical, details of the President’s health and any drugs or treatment he may receive are not public record and are guarded zealously by the secretive cadre of aides that surround the President.
Veteran White House watchers say the ability to control information about Bush’s health, either physical or mental, is similar to Ronald Reagan’s second term when aides managed to conceal the President’s increasing memory lapses that signaled the onslaught of Alzheimer’s Disease.
It also brings back memories of Richard Nixon’s final days when the soon-to-resign President wandered the halls and talked to portraits of former Presidents. The stories didn’t emerge until after Nixon left office.
One long-time GOP political consultant who – for obvious reasons – asked not to be identified said he is advising his Republican Congressional candidates to keep their distance from Bush.
“We have to face the very real possibility that the President of the United States is loony tunes,” he says sadly. “That’s not good for my candidates, it’s not good for the party and it’s certainly not good for the country."
First off, this may just be one of those uneducated rumors that has started up, just like the supposed "draft" that was going to happen for the war in Iraq. There's a lot of bull floting around, and you never know what uneducated Kerry supporters (no offense to anyone)have started.
Also, if the story is true, Wouldn't you be depressed if half the country waas pissed at you for doing your duty to protect the people as the President?!

If you can't fix the country, put the people of it into a suicidal depression.
Hope was on the way but it took on an unfortunate detour.
He'll get the people that voted for him in time, wait, watch and see.

Tim, you are a complete moron. They knew the consequences when they joined the military. They are trained first and foremost to be a soldier, that's the risk they take. THIS IS A WAR YOU IDIOT, would you rather have terrorists attacking you here in America? Bush didnt start this war, Al Queda did. As far as the faggot that killed himself at ground zero, GOOD!! One less liberal crying faggot in the world, I WISH A THOUSAND MORE WOULD JOIN HIM, INCLUDING MICHAEL MOORE. what a pussy... You don't see republicans killing them self when Clinton was elected, Tim you are grasping at straws here buddy, The bottom line is that you are a brainwashed democrat that can't think for himself. You sipped the Kool-Aid, now you're in the cult... IT'S CALLED INDEPENDANT THINKING, TRY IT FOR ONCE.
Oh yeah, and I leave you with one question. Think long and hard about it before you answer: WHAT HAS BUSH DONE THAT HAS PERSONALLY AFFECTED YOUR LIFE?

Before election his campaign called me over thirty times a day from October 22nd - November 1st after told to take information off of their list and left recorded messages on my answering machine. They finally stopped after I had my laywer contact them, personally. Empty threats and harrassment. Not directly from George W. Bush but he's responsible for his campaign and administration right? Not when something goes wrong! "It's not on my watch." Relatives personally affect me, Under this administration Medicare has been cut, concomerate drug companies have been favored in order to keep prescription drug prices high. This administration gave Enron a 200+ Million dollar tax return check, Social Security is being Privatized after George W. Bush swore it wouldn't be prior to winning Re-Election. I bet that "No-Draft" promise will dissapear as well.. I have many friends and collegues that were required to go to war ( backdoor drafted, however you want to sugarcoat the bullshit, they never signed up ) and were promised to be home after a year. It's been a year and coming up on two, They are still there. You think George W. Bush gives a flying fuck about Democracy in Iraq? Get to know some soliders there, or go ahead and sign up to fight for the "freedom of the Iraqi people." I have gotten letters from troops, they tell me they are guarding Oil, our own troops that speak up over there are mysteriously killed by "friendly fire" or "kidnapped by Al-Queda" It's all a profit margin game, my friend, War is good for business, feed the fishes, make a savior. I am not brainwashed for the facts stare you directly in the face, I'll believe troops that are in action before this administration in charge. Well atleast, he won the election for the first time, if Al Gore would have won the supreme court case to allow all of the votes to be counted, he would have won - Research it, facts are stubborn things. Bush? A Maple tree has more effect.
NOT MY PRESIDENT! along with 54 million others...
Anyway no more political chat on the board here, for it's not the place. Apologies for those who could care less either way.
Have a wonderful day.

Do you realize how stupid you sound saying that Bush is responsible for that moron's suicide? You sould like you are brainwashed. I'm not even a Bush supporter, I just don't think he is as responsible for all this as you think he is. Clinton had an opportunity to take out Bin Laden and he passed, he's just as responsible as anybody.

In regards to going to ground zero and ending it all, here a idea for you, sign up to fight in a bullshit war, hell, they'll even promise you 50,000 dollars, and if you make it through the killing fields of Iraq, before you see that fifty G's you'll be killed by "friendly fire" know about it, be proud to serve your U.S.A.
Have a great day.
