Mid-Atlantic tryouts

by njlaxfan

What exactly went down yesterday? I heard Mary Beth Driscoll was very upset, but I'm not sure what happened. How did nj girls fare? How are the nj teams split up?

Tryouts

by WMG GLAXER

Mary Beth Driscoll wasn't even there, b/c she was getting her master's degree. They origionally wanted to make 5 mixed teams from the region, but I think b/c it was too hot they just decided to keep the teams uni-stated (is that a word?...anyway). (There is now an A and a B team from NJ.) The temp. ranged from 98-103 so, I can understand why they did this. I think that keeping the teams uni-stated isn't a bad idea b/c it's hard enough to learn who the girls are from your state (even after seeing their names in the paper all the time) let alone trying to learn the names of girls you have never heard of. I like playing with people that I know at least a little about as opposed to playing w/total strangers. Well, that's all the imput I can give you, anyone else know more info?

New Top Ten?

by A GLAX FAN

Moorestown (waiting for Shawnee on the 8th)

WMC (desperately seeking some competition)

Shawnee ('cause everyone else has to PROVE that they can be beaten before you slide them any farther)

West Essex (athleticism, but D?)

Lenape, Collingswood, Cherokee (take your pick)

Summit (coming on strong)

Mountain Lakes (let's see how they fare against Wessex)

RBC (let's throw the Shore a bone)

What do you think Daddy-O??

Not Bad, I like it!

by Daddy- O

I can agree with your top 3
Moorestown, WMC, Shawnee (could lose two back to back to Collingswood (hagan & young Defense)and Moorestown (who still has Shawnee psyched out)
( I still like the girls from Columbia they play well together)

#4 is Columbia followed by #5Collingswood and #6 Eastern (who knocked off Lenape)

I can go with Wessex for now in the #7 slot (they better beat the lakers or I'll trash them)

#8 Summit (they play Hunterdon Central in 2 weeks), #9 Lakers (for now, I think they will fade then we can bring Lenape back)

#10 is a toss-up between RBC (they just don't play anyone, I'm sorry I know the Shore league is a distance but they can get on a bus on the weekend and go play someone) and Hunterdon Central (who is on a roll , for now)

IMPOSTER ALERT : (Bridgewater and Ridge are tied , they need to play and break the tie)

BEWARE OF ROAD KILL.....

Reply to you Daddy-O

by A GLAX FAN

It was definitely an oversight to leave out Columbia. They are the second best team in the North just based on that they play some D. Lakes is overrated and will get soundly thrashed by WMC in the Morris COunty Tournament.

One might say HC is in the overrated category in the sense that they have to prove they can beat someone outside of the Central League. Come to think of it, the whole League needs to step up come States.

Shawnee-Moorestown tomorrow.

HC is on FIRE!!!!

by devil fan

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the Hunterdon Central Red Devils are on the rise! Sure, they started of a little rocky, but they've bounced back to win their last 6 games and are looking for more.
Anyone wanna know the lowdown on some teams they played, here's how I see it...HoVal's got a fast break, but w/out that they're nothin' to fear. West Windsor's got Rutledge, but if you key in on her, you can shut the entire team down. Oak Knoll comes out strong, but as time moves on, they wear out fast and get frustrated. Hun's got a few quick feet, but the fast break isn't too hard to stop if you force them weak, cause they won't take it, and on D they're a bunch of screamin' fools (yes they really scream) who can't recover well.

The Ledger is weak

by Daddy -O

The Ledger is so weak ,I can't take it anymore.
Here's the REAL DEAL TOP 10:

1)Moorestown (ok daddy-o tell us something we don't know) ok, they have the midfield speed and passing to beat the WMC double team. besides i've seen them twice.

2) West Morris (they have the speed and skill to beat the strong man to man that Moorestown plays but i don't think that WMC can get off on Fitzgerald and Smith..i've seen them twice too

3) Columbia (their only problem is that they play WMC twice)

4) Shawnee ( they ain't as good as they think they are..moorestown will blow them out)

5) Collingswood (they have some girls that can absolutely fly) problem is that they play Shawnee and Moorestown

6) Hunterdon Central(they bounced back)

7) West Essex (2 goals away from being 6 and 2)and they play a weak schedule

8) Mountain Lakes(let's see how they handle Summit today, the first half of their schedule was weak)

9) Eastern (because they are 7 and 1 and play down south)

10) Summit (because they are 2 goals from being 7 and 1 and haven't peaked yet..Kennedy is just getting them ready for the playoffs)if they beat the lakers today , i'll move them up next week

IMPOSTER SQUAD OF THE YEAR (SO FAR) - Ridge (because they haven't played anyone yet)

IMPOSTER RUNNER -UPS (TIE)
Bridgewater -because they lost to the only team on their schedule with a better than .500 record)
Red Bank Catholic - because they never play anyone good.
This year Jackson could beat RBC out for the SHORE CONFERENCE IMPOSTER SQUAD OF THE YEAR..stay tuned and BEWARE OF ROAD KILL (don't be one)

Who does Columbia play?

by Mighty Mouse -O

Or do they automatically get respect because they play WMC?

And Daddy- O one more thing-o get over the
Summit-o stuff because that was last year. This is 2000 - o.
And another thing-o Daddy-o , EASTERN ? I don't think so - o..and Shawnee IS as good as they think.

But you are right about the IMPOSTER - Os.

Summit beats Mt. Lakes

by infogirl

Who does Columbia play? Since they are in the same division as West Morris, they should play the same teams as WM. They have lost twice to WM--these two teams have been fighting it out for the last several years. Great coaches for both teams. Summit's coach is tops, too. Today Summit beat Mt. Lakes, so watch out...here they come again.

Top Ten

by A GLAX FAN

There is a real have and have-not this year. Programs, especially up north, need to upgrade. Why don't teams take up the challenge that Mooretown, Shawnee and WMC lay down and make themselves better? That's WMC's problem. They double so much in the midfield because they can and when they face a team that can pass over them, they have to learn how to handle that in the game.

I agree with the Shawnee assessment. Can you say downhill? Columbia is the real deal, though. They are getting better and they have some midfield speed for a change to challenge WMC. Don't knock Wessex's athleticism, though. And SUmmit's got no "D" so they're not going far.

Until today, I agreed with you about Summit's lack of D. I saw shades of last year with their midfield swarm and double teaming. The score was not indicative of how much Summit dominated Mountain Lakes. Daddy-o, I really liked your rankings. One more prop for Summit-the coach is Kenny, not Kennedy.Keep up the great work for the Star Ledger!

summer lacrosse

by

Hello All,

I want to let everyone know that we're in the process of organizing some lacrosse events for players 18 and over in central and north Jersey. At the very least, we will be constructing a website specifically for lacrosse players in the Garden State. Our goal at this time, is to recruit enough players to build a brand new summer lacrosse league. If you think you might be interested and you're 18 or over, email lax_in_nj@hotmail.com

COLUMBIA RULES!!!!!!!

by

We have the best squad but the worst coach in the world. The guy sucks. We lost to teams this year that we destroyed last year. We really need a coach who knows what he's doing.....the Jv team is doing better than varsity that just shows how the varsity head coach doesnt know shit.

np means...

np means "No Post." No post means there is nothing to read in the message portion of the post. It saves reader time and is a courtesy. You just read the "headline" because there is no "story."
