Hi, My name is Anne Kenyon ne Fox. I was born on Canvey 20th Jan 1954, my family lived at no 3 Downham Road, I went to the local primary school, I think it was Long Rd, I left England when I was 7yrs old and came to New Zealand with my family, we lived in Auckland for 47 yrs and have recently moved further north to the Bay of Islands.
My Mother Pat Fox ne Bennett also lived on the island for many years, she was bought up by her Grandmother Emily Strange. Mum had a stroke 7 years ago so a lot of the info is lost. I remember her telling me about the floods, the water reached the roof tops of some houses, and people were rescued by others in row boats, the sea and land levels can be found in the history of this forum. We have kept in contact with some folk who still live in Canvey, and also some friends of ours who lived not far away from us also immigrated, their names were Len and Eileen King and their Children Andrew,Barbara and Joan, Len passed away last year, Eileen and her family live in South Auckland, Waiuku. I also correspond occasionally with a Mrs Anne Gregory, who is now in her 80's and still lives at no 5 Downham Rd, anyone out there remember us or our friends.
