I have been attempting to trace my husband's family who all came from Essex, his father was born on Canvey Island. In the 1881 census, my husband's great- grandfather Edward Packman is listed as living in No. 1 The Round House, Canvey Island with his family. Does anyone know if it is possible that the Dutch Cottages could have been described as Round Houses at that time?

I've never seen them refered to as that but it's an apt description.

Hi
I have recently obtained information stating that the ROUNDHOUSE was probably the now lost third Dutch Cottage on the Island that was possibly down Northwick Road. I'll post up a little more info later if you still come here to read this.
