NAMAH: NO TO OBSERVERS
Post Courier: Weekend Edition 30 June 2012
Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Vanimo Green River Belden Namah says there's no need for international observers to be brought into West Sepik for the current elections.
He issued this statement after an alliance of candidates earlier called for an Eminent Persons Group to be deployed in the province, especially in Vanimo Green River electorate to observe both polling and counting.
Mr Namah says there's no war or tribal fights in this District to warrant such a group to be sent there.
He adds the electorate has been conducting peaceful elections for the last 37 years and does not need international intervention this time around.
"Vanimo Green River District for the past 37 years lo conductim election has been the most peaceful electorate in the entire country. Yu singaut lo Eminent Persons Group lo kam for what? Yu singaut lo Intervention Force for what? There is no war going on. There is no tribal fight going on in Vanimo, most peaceful, most peaceful electorate in the whole of Papua New Guinea."
