  • Will LNG bring change?

From the experts we hear there is going to be a spike in economic activity for the next three years while LNG construction takes place.
During this period and afterwards, Government revenue is going to swell dramatcially.
Perhaps 1.5 billion per year extra to spend. It is the spending of this revenue that creates the scene for what occurs after the LNG construction. Schools, roads and hospitals need to be upgraded for the long term. Industry other than the oil and gas industry has to be supported. Can the PNG government do this? I have my doubts. Petromin sounds as if it will be the recipient of the onshore revenue. What will Petromin do with all this money. Will it be transparent. We never hear much about how Petromin recovers funds and spend it. If Petromin is prepared to prop up a loss making gold mine what will it do when it has even more funds
