Using your own question of Alan Bird, can I ask you what Somare has done for East Sepik? Since you are asking the same question of Alan.
It seems to me, that you are prepared to let Somare off the hook after 44 years in parliament but subject someone else to a much higher standard. Mind you, Alan has never, ever been a member of parliament yet you are so critical of him. I wonder why.
I was at home during the campaign period and I was suprised how Greg Maisen, Tony Walwal, Moses Murray and Paul Wanjik accused Alan of all kinds of things. Most notable was: that he was a white man, a foreignor, that he was paid K5m by Somare not to contest the elections in 2007, that he ran away and deserted the people of ESP after the elections, etc, etc.
At one rally, Alan was asked to respond to all these accusations and he said; "Upla laik bilivim ol displa man, em orait votim ol. Mi blo Seranguandu, mi bikpla lo ples, na mi karim kangal. Mi tok lo 2002 olsem m bai last elecksen blong mi, tasol hevi kamap lo lapun na nau mi sanap gen. Upla ino votim mi, mi no nap cros, mi bai stop lo ron lo elecsen na was long ol meri na pikini blong mi."
My whole family in Maprik voted for him, my village gave him 523 votes. Alan got over 1,600 votes from his own village in box 19 & 20. I think that is proof that he has roots in his village.
