PNG has never had an effective opposition throughout our short political history because successive governments had deliberately suffocated the opposition through indequate funding.
We have had very good MP's in every opposition since independence. They were outspoken on issues of national importance but when they crossed the floor to the government side, for some strange reason, they suddenly change their tone.
Recent political developments shows that Belden Namah is prepared to be the opposition leader. He is a good sport. Peter O'Neil and his cohorts better cover their balls real good because, if he grabs them, he will squeeze them real hard.
I think PNG will have a very good and effective opposition during this term of parliament.
