These rates can be tweaked a bit. If you're a high income earner in PNG you pay 42% in income tax - this is very high for such a low return of basic services. But that figure doesnt include the 10% gst we all pay over the counter. So higher earners are handing more than 50% of their income to the government before making payments on home loans, groceries, school feel, medical, etc.
We are all slaves to the government, our wives, our employers, and the banks. They all get their share before we do, and we are forced to live off the crumbs :-(
