With the recent case of tribal fights which has torn Mendi town apart and some taking advantage of the situations in Mendi, one wonder who the next governor would be?
It would be a tough and challenging job for the next Governor to see that normalcy is once again reestablished in the once tribal war-riden town. However, the current situation has not subsided yet and there is still tension mounting within the warring tribes. Just because of the coming election, things have quieten down abit.
Therefore, the first and foremost thing that any intending candidates should considered should be the peoples' safety. People should be assured of their security before they go about doing their daily routine. Once their safety is assured, peoples' trust and confidence can be easily gained which is imperative to the smooth flow of governance and deliverance of basic goods and services.
Recently I have heard of some aspiring young leaders arising to gamble their chances away of the quest for the next governorship (as the pending case for Anderson Agiru is still uncertain) without establishing a firm foundation which often take years.
What we the people of SHP desperately need is an Abraham Lincoln type of government. George Washington was the one build the nation of United States, while Abraham Lincoln tried to uphold and to keep together the nation of USA during upheaval and challenging times, such as the war against slavery.

I heard Ame Yawari is hot!!
March 30 2002, 11:06 PM
Bata,
I heard rumours that Ame Ywari from Nipa was hot last year but I guess it's the numbers game so anyone can win! I want Philemon Embel, Herowa Agiwa, Tom Tomiape and David Basua to contest the Regional seat since they were the ones playing politics to cease Anderson from performing his duties as a governor.
Rather than contesting in their electorates, let them prove to the people of SHP that they perform even better like Anderson. I tell you they are bunch of idiots with no back ground...they lack the credibility!
Agiru is coming back!
April 1 2002, 7:23 AM
In his dreams (Hame Yawari) may become next governor for his little electrolate -Nipa/Kutuz.
my advise to you is Mr. Agiru will be back this year and no chances will be given!
People of thousand highlands will demostrate that when casting votes.
Please check with your local agents for further details.
kind regards

It could be anyone's game!

If Agiru's appeal against the Supreme Court to allow him to contest the election is unsuccessful, it could be anybody's game.
Hope it's not going to be a political crony!

Has the court decision been made yet?
April 3 2002, 10:17 AM
Hey bata,
I thought I heard that the court had already decided for him to contest the election and had deferred his case after the elections.... I'm not pretty sure though.

the decision is being handed down at a later date. possibly in the next few days.
It doesn't matter. He's not comming back. The seat is comming to Mendi after decades of going around the province from Coupena to Nipa to Tari. Finally its comming to Mendi.
no hard feelings guys.

I salute Agiru pro-Sir Wiwa
April 3 2002, 10:44 AM
I salute Agiru for his bright visions...let those who sidelined with PDM to add salt on the bulk southern highlanders challenge the Regional.
Atleast sir wiwa still reflects as a glory without any bias and friction during his term in office.
Hope he comes back, apart from Agiru.
Others, i think are pupies, or frogs on a current of a fresh water.
just my thoughts
Please see the reasons for his dissmissal
April 19 2002, 10:06 AM
Despite the fact that our dear governor had to go through a lot of unneccessary pressure, he himself has some blame for his conduct.
The reasons for dismissing him from office are clear.
These include; possesing of illegal firearms, and no annual accountability reports. Sometimes, you wonder why leaders fail to furnish financial reports to the watchdog.

for SHP
April 3 2002, 12:09 PM
Great man! You wrote something sensible for us who are currently flown by the wind of money and flames of nepotism, greed, jealousy, pay back, corruption, bias and led with ill-visions. Poor southerners, we have painted our names with RED!
With the recent lawlessness, and escalationg turmoil in our yet remote last town, it has promised some best leaders to png. The likes of Ron Neville, Sir Wiwa, Francis Pusal etc..
Am not againsting him nor his enermy but viewed that corruption and nepotism breeded like fresh weeds as soon as late Dick Mune mastered SHP.
Agiru tried to clean up, and simultaneously prosecuted him of mismanagement added fuel as a rival to him (Mune).
People like Yaki and Embelesp. then sidelined with PDM to kick Agiru out for shallow accussions. Just because Agiru did not allowed PDM executives to sign any equity into any projects/mineral portions.
Agiru, as flaged by many was visionary,... but the ultimate laws, the courts found him guilty so he has to blame himself for being wise. Atleast you get credits.
"No! i don't want him to be foolish or a perpetrator"..
Now there are many young enegertic, visionary and "maniman" going to run the top post so lets sit back and see.
But make a wise decision, and don't burn your vote to a barking dog.
Happy reading,

New SHP needed
April 3 2002, 8:35 PM
Bishop,
I definitely agree with your points. It's very true that SHP has produced some of the best leaders within our country...like the likes of Tim Nerville, Late Francis Pusal,Sir Wiwa Korowi and so forth, as you have already mentioned.
Unfortunately, just due to unexpected upheavals, SHP is currently facing one of its worst era since being conceived as a province. Whatmore, the people of Hela region are also considering breaking away to form another province due to the disruptions of vital services and goods to their part of the world during this time.
On the other hand, all the eastern ends of SHP, like Ialibu,Pangia and Kagua tend to flock to Mt Hagen where major trading takes place.
So what is left of Mendi town, the capital of SHP? With all the abundant natural resources, like oil, gas and gold being currently extracted, where does all these money goes to?
One still wonders why Mendi Town is not developed as it supposed to be as the main depot for all these resources.
It will be interesting to know if all the elected MPs could work together in building up the province after the election. Now is the time the entire province is in dire need of a strong and firm leadership which can only be accomplished by the unity and perseverence of all the elected leaders.
If they work together putting aside their differences, no individual MP is sure to be pushed around or tossed about like the waves...
As you have said, we don't want to waste our votes to a barking dog, who will only look forward to feeding itself.
AGIRU IS ABSOLUTELY FIT TO HANDLE SHP

I personally don't know Agiru well,As southman do, i do have a lot of respect for him as a leader, I am bit worry as educated man, he is living in a real dream world,
He claims to be a born again, but I was shocked to see him playing Casino in cairns, Is that the kind of leader we want, who pretends to be good in SH and once he is in cairn he is a real lion,Our God is great, watchout,
therefore i don't want hypocrite like him. there are other SH leaders arround but they don't have the money and fame, tell me if you are real for Agiru,
For souths man, you be in one bed with Agiru and you should know him well,or else don't pour the rubbish because your reall people in last Wiru, Mararongo, Mt Busave are dying, keep your mouth shut

THANKYOU,
ITS SO HARD TO FIND PEOPLE WITH SENSE THESE DAYS BUT YOU ARE A VERY RARE FIND. YES THESE PEOPLE ARE FOOLS AND YES, IF THEY SUPPORT AGIRU, THEY ARE GOING DOWN WITH HIM. HE ISN'T HELPING THE PEOPLE AT ALL. ALL HE'S DOING IS USING THE POWER FOR HIS OWN BENEFIT. WITH LEADERS LIKE HIM, ALL I CAN SAY IS "GOD HELP THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS PROVINCE".
