My view is that Morauta and Namaliu were the only 2 fairly noncorrupt Prime Ministers we've ever had. Although Morauta did have his favoured status for his fishing company.

MORAUTA is literally dead - just like his colleague and one-time favourite Wingti. Lapun Sana sanap long het bilong tupela pinis, there is very slim chances of the two returning as Prime Ministers!

I guess basically both of them probably spend too much time in public office on their private businesses. BTW has anyone seen Paias around?

PNG Party has no name in PNG...has done nothing and will never become a driving force in PNG politics...bring back PDM and Mekere can lead that party again.

PDM is dead brother, even Paias Wingti is not in PNG Party. Paias is an independent MP. PNG Party is lead by Sir Mekere, na deputy is Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, and other members are: SHP Governor Hami Hawari, Culture & Tourism Minister David Basua, Agriculture and Livestork Minister Mathew Suines, and Nuku MP Andrew Kumbakor.

If PNG Party is to led by a fresh blood towards 2007 then, it could be definetly be Enga Governor Peter Ipatas.

Poor synopsis buddy!
Dont be led by the deserting crowing cock! Its just a "name change", policy framework and the manifesto remains PDM (the corruption tag).

People are fed up with PDM, and Paias Wingti. Wingti is so rich " but couldn't offer a free toea for humanitarian, charities etc in Western Highlands Province. Rich under people's expenses. Wingti no way, try someone else.

Brother, for sure Mekere has no choice but to handover the PNG party reins to Enga Governor Peter Ipatas. I hope if Ipatas takes the party to 2007 polls, they will make some difference.

Anon,

This party has the right to exist. If you are after something else, don't post your filty, and non sense comments on the forum. We write and read constructive points here OK. You must be naive and childish, so revisit this forum after you recover.

Annon,

This party has the right to exist, unlike other Political parties. If you are after something else, don't sneak your nose here. We want to read, and respond to constructive comments presented by writers on this forum. Better keep away, before you are bored.

PDM off register

PDM is no longer on the Registrar of Political Parties Official Registry, but PNG Party, and other are.

Paias Wingti is independent, but Paias and Mekere are best buddies. Paias has more influence in PNG Politics, but failed to master enough numbers to oust Somare during the failed vote of no confidence last year. At that time, Mekere and the PNG party deserted opposition and joined Somare to prevent this possible take over by the oppposition. By analysing these events, one should conclude that Mekere and PNG Party are strongly opposed to Wingti.

However, if Wingti wants to become the next PM, he can either penetrate thu PNC, coz Peter Oneil is Paias's boy, or thu PNG Party, because, despite dumping Wingti, Mekere still owned Paias credits for his superior roles/influences which led to the formation of Mekere Government in 1999.

PNGPARTY WILL BE DISINTERGATED BEFORE 2007

It was three weeks ago that PDM was revived and again you will get to see coming strong in 2007. The party was re-registered (Registration of Association) through a public notice on the two dailies in PNG. This will put to rest the speculation of relationship between Sir and PW or PNG and PDM. Definitely no relationship but on personal basis no body knows.

What will happen now is that PNGP will not be there for you in 2007 and Sir Mekere will not attract any following from his current members into next alliance nor take the party to election. What will happen will be:-

Sir Mek will join up with Bart and the NA relegates
Peter Ipatas will move on and start a new political party especially for the Engans
Mathew Gubag, John Munganpi, jacob Jimacot and Hami Yawari will join PW and its revived PDM party
David Basua will join PNC because of Southern Highlands politics
Andrew Kumbakor will join NA or possibly Ipatas and
Mathew Siune will probably NA.

No matter how the members will split, PNGP will not be there in 2007 because the current leader has no respect from its parliamentary wing nor command respect from the members of parliament. Sir Mek is a loner and it will remain that way as long as he is a MP. He will never raise to the top executive top and will never be a force in future. He is weak leader and I will not support him in 2007.

So there you go, your posting for new leadership for PNGP is not necessary.

You people sure know a lot about PNG Politics. I just lost track of your assessments and arguments with all those acronyms. However, I wish to commend you folks that we certainly need a lot of good political analyst to predict a probable scenario in relation to the frequent politicking in our politics.

PNG Party will not be disintegrated. Instead, the PNG Party members will vote in Enga Governor to lead the Party to the polls in 2007, and believe me, they will do better. Sir Mekere is weak indeed, and will removed from the party ranks, but he will support the party. The reasons behind my analysis is that, Sir Mekere was forced to formed PNG Party, and the heavyweights behind were Enga Governor Peter Ipatas, Nuku MP Andrew Kumbakor, Mathew Suine, David Basua who survived the 2002 polls. These guys are putting their next strategies together leading up to the 2007 polls, and Peter Ipatas will emerge as their new leader.

The National Alliance is currently fearing Ipatas, the heavy weight in the Highlands Region, and they are also trying to put in a bit of their strategies incliding the proposed cabinet reshuffle, and hopeful dumping of PNG Party from the Government. Whatever it is, their only reason behing was to lure support, so that NA can perform better in the highlands in 2007? NA has alot of highlands MP, including the speaker of Parliament and who else are they fearing????

PNG Party is here to stay, and we don't anticipate any disintegration at any costs. Annon stated that there is likelihood of Enga Governor forming a new political party, and I believe the chances are very slim. These MPs in the Party will remain, and get to polls as a team. They don't fear anyone, even NA. They can be sacked, but their destiny towards 2007 looks more favorable, and they will even outperform NA, PPP, PAP or whatever.

Thats my personal observations, but you know, PNG Politis is unpredictible. Anything can happen anytime.

PNG Party is here to stay and prosper. Members within the party are born leaders, and given the chance to lead will surprise many or all of us. You have people like, Andrew Kumbakor, Mao Zeming, who are very capable leaders, who can take this party a long way. Don't be surprised, PNG Party will be called to form the next Govt. after 2007.

Just to mention - PNG Party will manage after 2007.

Bro, I did not know that people are born leaders, the only exception would be in Monarchies but in democratic governments in election processes, I am unsure.

Agreed.
There is no such thing as born leaders. It is a phrase misused my many today, to suit their cunning pursuits in politics.

Leaders are molded and transformed by many factor from political, business, economic and community fronts.

guys,
PNG party will no longer exist because heavy weights like Ipatas and his colegues are forming another party for the coming elections and that's a fact. The New party has already been registered with the good old registra of political parties Mr. Bengo and I think it will be called the Meleansian party( check Post Courier classifields). And believe it or not this party has and will have the number if it decides to form the next government.

And the future of PNG party is not looking too gud.
