I have actually contributed to the development of this idea about 5-6 years ago at a forum of educated Sundauners and Sepiks. There are educated people from both provinces who think this might be a very workable idea. At some stage it was even suggested that Madang, the East Sepik and Sandaun provinces be combined and make one province. In the end it came down to putting just East Sepik and Sundaun together.
Having a larger province means that you can cut down on administrative expenses, pool resources and hopefully get a lot more done. At the moment, both provinces are spreading their resources too thinly on mediocre service delivery, when combined, these resources can be pooled together to hopefully deliver a better quality service for everyone. You have to remember that this is not about ethnicity but about practical delivery of limited services and resources to the larger community.
Sepiks are not all from the same ethnic group. Sundaun and East Sepik together have something like 100+ different languages and cultures.
If the idea is now fully developed, I think leaders and people from both East Sepik and Sundaun provinces will support the idea given our collective ability to see further than the present.

We the Sandauners are not Sepiks. We are very different from you sepiks. You guys can form your own federated states of Sepikrica. We are PNGeans and will remain PNGeans. We don't need pushy, talkative, troublemakers like you guys. Our pasin is completely different from you people.
