The below was taken from Post Courier's letter to the editor's issue of Tuesday 19th December. Please share us your opinion about this guy Wingti.

Wingti is the right leader
I wish to respond on Pamba Paka’s letter on claims over Governor Paias Wingti distributing cash to womens groups and other groups.
It has never been Governor Wingti’s policy to throw money here and there on selective people or groups to lure votes. People have voted for him because he is a man of integrity and integrity makes a leader. His integrity and character is what makes people vote for him. He lost the 1997 elections because so-called ”educated lunatics” plotted with a bunch of NGOs to go around spreading lies to ordinary people that Wingti and PDM were going to sell the country. When we realised the truth, we regretted and couldn’t forgive ourselves come 2002 and Mr Wingti won with a landslide.
We are reaping the benefits of electing good leaders like Mr Wingti and we can sleep and eat well when leaders like him are running our province. Mr Wingti is like no other leader, his type is rare and hard to find and as they say, “one of a kind”.
WHP is tops because of Mr Wingti.

Well Mr wingti and you will be gone for life in png politics.He screwed the K800 million in gold reserves and has something to do with the 300 million USD caymen island deal. PNG will do away with recycled junk piece hole like him.

On the contrary, he used to be a visionary Highlands leader but he no longer has that respect now.
His only MAIN failure is the Silence that he developed in this current term can not be accepted by the voters. He did nothing. Last minute cunning promises are not new to WHP.

What a big statement for someone who only thought of his pocket, what did he do for the highlands in the God knows how many donkey years he has been in parliament?
As an highlander, I am insulted by this statement.
When I think of Wingti-I imagine a white collar criminal.
When he kicks the bucket, lets see how much he'll actually take with him

From what I heard, Wingti runs his show like a mafia boss. He has strings everywhere and thus have atleast a say in major porjects, mostly to cater for his wealth acumulation. It would be better if he use his connections to develop WHP and PNG as a whole.

Ol lain, pls do not be misled by the term rait lida. A true lida is one that puts his people first or his country's concern as the priority. Everything he/she does is accountable and transparant. It is not someone who gets something from the government but he who gives his best service to the country he represents or serves. A leader is someone with vision and ability to manage with operational efficiency.
The man called Wingti is far from accountability, transparancy, vision and operational efficiency but only self interest. He is the richest man in the Pacific. He became rich by taking from the public purse. Can we say he is a true leader???heheheh...He made deals such as Cayman island deal that was inflated for his cronies benefits and was never accountable on that matter. He never said sorry for this inquiries too.
He is not a lida at all. He is a situational leader with out vision for the country. Ask him, what was his vision for PNG when he was the prime minister??? I can not immagine his answer...
For me, I would say he was a situational lida without vision.

he has a tounge to suck but no balls if he were in somare's position to fly moti out of png to solomons. would loose his wife and properties in australia if he did. not only wingti but many other thieves that have stashed their spoils from the png coffers in aussie land.

If the decimation of People's Democratic Party in the 2002 election is any indication of the resolve of the voting public to deal with corrupt political parties democratically, the notion of resurrecting Wingti and elevating him onto the pedestal of political limelight in PNG politics borders on political hallucination and blasphemy.
Dr. Michael Unage’s article in the National (2006) meticulously articulated the political mindset in so far as political leadership from the Highlands region vying for the top job was concerned. PNG cannot live in the past. Wingti is a museum piece; an extinct political tyranaserous rex. PNG must move forward aggressively with the new generation political leaders.
Grand Chief Somare is an institution as opposed to Wingti. Why? Somare groomed so many leaders who eventually became Prime Ministers of PNG, including Wingti; whereas Wingti did not groom a highlander to replace him in the event that he falls from grace. See what greed can do to one?
