Many thanks to whoever took the time to make an urgent response to my message RE: the late Ben Mendepo. Sorry to hear that. The last time I saw him was early 2003. I know he's been such a kind guy and a true friend. Lost contact details that did not manage to get in touch all this time.
Ange, Murumbu is correct by saying that he got killed in a nasty car accident along Gerehu. To this date we can't really come to terms with the death of this very charming and helpful little man. A man with a heart of an elephant, who doesn't know how to say no, who is never tired of doing the goodies etc... In fact, there will never be anyone like the Late Ben Mendepo.
Don't let his value as a role model die with him. Tell your friends, teach your children and those of you who knew him best, consider putting up a monument or memorial that will tell all for many years to come that such a person existed.
Otherwise it all disappears and when all that disappears involves a good person, that's not good. We need heros in our country very badly and the only way we will get them is if those who know really good people honour them publicly and often, and when they die, they contribute to put up something lasting in tribute to that person.
