Few weeks ago I posted this idea in this forum but got very little support thus I would like to clarify and give some more details. In that post I put the subject as Time is right for revolution and few people commented that I was a rare person in pngscape. Let me clarify that, I do not believe that I am a rare person rather, I have a rare idea. My previous subject may be inappropriate but be aware that, revolution can mean forcible change of a government or regime WITH OR WITHOUT VIOLENCE. In my idea, Im for WITHOUT VIOLENCE.
Let me remind those who read my previous posting that: the point I am trying to share with our wonderful and faithful voting population of our beautiful country PNG is that, all the problems, troubles, uncertainty our country is facing since independence from high level corruption, the majority of the population of PNG missing out on basic government services for 34 years, increasing crime rate, the rich getting rich & the poor getting poor, all the wealth of the people of PNG being stolen by politicians, high unemployment rate, schools and health facilities built during the colonial era breaking into pieces & the list goes on, is our own mistake. And as I said earlier, that mistake is our VOTE. We have been repeating the same mistake (OUR ONE VOTE) since independence. I am from one of the very isolated villages in PNG and if you are like me then tell me (if you leave all your life in Pom, Lae, Mt. Hagen cities, you have the right to remain silent because you will not understand what Im expressing here), is the aidpost near your village stocked with vital medicines after 34 years of independence? Are mothers not dying from childbirth after 34 years of independence? Are school children in your remote primary school sitting on proper desks and tables after 34 years of independence? Are you not still walking for 3 to 6 hours to get to the nearest government station after 34 years of independence? Etcetcetc
So where is all the wealth of the country from: gold mine, copper mine, Nickel, crude oil, now LNG, log and forestry products, agricultural commodities (coffee, cocoa, rubber), marine resources, fishery, & other natural resources??? Right now, when Im writing these, if not you or I, most of our family members and relatives are still living a life below poverty line. But what is our mistake? What have we done to go through all these? I believe, the only one mistake is our VOTE. Every 5 years we make the same mistake, that is, we vote the wrong person to Parliament. Immediately after every National Election, we complain that: A Member of Parliament has not delivered any tangible and much needed services to his electorate and his people although he/she has been in the parliament for 5 to 10 years. But where are all the District Support Grants? Where is the 10 million kina allocated to each MP? Where is the 200 million kina NADP allocated funds to the Districts? Where are Educations and Health support grants? On top of that, where is the 300 million Dollars AusAID received by the government annually?
Let me remind concerned citizens of our country that, scientists observe past events and predict the future hence I use the same notion and predict that, IT IS UNLIKELY FOR OUR COUNTRY TO CHANGE FOR BETTER SOON.
The way things are currently going on in our country, it is very unlikely for PNG as a country to change for better at least for a long time. I therefore would like to offer a rare idea to the voting population of PNG, men and women, working and non-working class, in formal and informal sectors, from close to the seas to the valleys, and across the mountains. This rare idea is NOBODY VOTES IN THE 2012 National General Elections of PNG. I believe this rare idea is a catalyst to stimulate a change for better for our beloved country PNG. My NO VOTE idea is not a revolution but a violence-free protest to attract the attention of the world that PNG needs and deserves a change for better for all its peoples. The NO VOTE action will be by the people and for the people because we are still a democratic nation. I foresee that if ALL the voting population of PNG take the NO VOTE action comes 2012, I believe some very strange things will happen but this strange things will be A CHANGE FOR BETTER FOR THE PEOPLE OF PNG.
I though about this idea more than 5 years ago and have discussed with few people including students, work colleagues, unemployed youths, and my own tribes men and women in my village. The response I got was EM TRU YA, YUMI MAS INO KEN VOTE. Im not really sure of whether they meant it or not. Im again reviving this idea. Few months ago I was in my village and did talk to few people and got positive feedback too. I would like to reach out to as many people as much as possible with this idea before 2012 and would like to invite discussions and any related ideas in this forum. I consider that there are a lot of professionals and well educated country men and women who access this site and forum thus I request for your genuine discussions. When I first discussed my idea in this forum, one person commented that, its a good idea but I have to be strategic. While I do appreciate that, I think the first thing is to sell this idea to as many people as much as possible and to get their views. Setting the strategies to implement this action can follow later.
If any person wishes to discuss this seriously with me, you are welcome to contact me on: mitasol45@yahoo.com
GOD BLESS PAPUA NEW GUINEA.

You will have the most stupidiest candidate who will see the opportunity and get his tribe to vote him in and as the law says it is not compulsory to vote so who ever votes even by one voter wins the election. I think you should redirect your attention to the 70% first termers in this parliament to form a new government to rid corruption, that was what the last polling results were. The veteran mps are already stink with corruption and if the first termers do not break free they will be compromised themselves as corrupt monies will find its way into their pockets to support the old corrupt regime,

Brats if everyone in png don't want to vote for anyone candidate, the candidate's families will vote them in.unless you try to come up with different ideas to stop conducting election in the coutry.

Our friends peported proposal can be seen as a very concerned PNGean or frastrated for his own ego.
Even if you don't vote, some one will, like the family or clan of the candidate.
What about Electronic voting, Autoomated ID photo and Finger Print. In this case, only the living human being votes and not the ghost. Voting with ballot papers prinited on site for varification only. No more printed ballot paper transported around. The data is transmited from the polling booth from the remotest village and simultaniously transmitted to the provincial and national tally rooms within less than a second. technology is here already, B Mobile and Digicel. Voice is heavier than data, can get up to 6,000,000 data a second, PNG only 5.3 million.
Counting for varification by electronic scaning displayed on public bill boards.
This will cut the crab at the polling booth and counting center 99.9 % of MPS lose at the pools but win at the polling both and counting center. Declare and gazette by law campain centers where all candidates come and debate and not village to village or house to house.
what are the benefits of the automated voting system:
1 the winning candidate is the most prefered and not the one who cheats.
2 Electronically, the winner is already known at the end of the voting, Ballot papers are only for varification purposes.
3 Polling is less than 5 days PNG wide
4 Counting takes one day and
5 winning candidate declared same day.
6. candidates spend less
7 voters do not move around
8 no cheating at the polling both and counting center, thats where all the EC officals including police. PNGDF and other do their dirty deals and corrupt this nation
9 Disputes reduced to 2% or nil
10 By elections nil uless someone dies or resigns.
11 Government saves lots of money and service other vital services.
This systme in my opinion, will sent good people to the hausman. If one goes in uncorrupt will remain uncorrupt and come out uncorrupt. Go in corrupt, remain in there corrupt and come out more corrupt.
Should also look at the education and age of a candidate as a prerequisit. grade 10/12 and 30 years and over.
hey, I am not an expect in this kind of thing but just my views.

You may have a good idea there but I think it will not work. Why? Because every con-man, every self-proclaimed elite, every community leader, every Tom, Dick and Harry is preparing to go for that piece of "pie" our current politicians are enjoying. They too want to be on "Cloud 9", they too want to get rich overnight, they too want to accumulate riches and properties and send their kids to schools overseas and seek medical attention overseas.
PNG has to work harder, think harder, see through things, plan ahead and open itself to the world beyond. Open our eyes to reality! We live in such a depressed and poor state that we think within that box all the time.
I am an intending candidate for 2012 but if every PNGian decides to stop voting come 2012, then I am in for it!

I do appreciate your comments re the above. Some of you supported my idea, some said my idea will not work & one anonymous said my idea was just a fantasy. Let me again discuss further. I want this idea to develop into a Nation-wide boycott of the 2012 National Elections. If my idea is supported by the majority of you in this forum, then the following steps must be taken prior to 2012;
1. A committee to be called "Nupela PNG 2012" will be formed. Members of this committee will comprise all sectors throughout PNG representing the 89 Districts of our country. Members can be academics, scientists, representatives from church groups, youths, NGOs, village reps, Defence force, Police, media etc..
2. Open forum discussions in educational institutions throughout PNG.
3. Discussions at youth gatherings, with women groups, church groups, NGOs etc throughout the country.
4. Discussions with the Police force, Army and the media.
5. An educational awareness to the voting population throughout PNG in villages, government stations, towns, other urban areas.
6. If the 5 approaches above return positive feedback & the majority is FOR the boycott in 2012, then a petition giving details of the reasons for the boycott will be drafted, giving an ultimatum (6-12 months) for the government to address & give answers to pressing issues. Among others, some of the reasons include the following: Breaking down of law and order in the country, Corruption, Educational institution facilities breaking into pieces, Ex-service men & women still waiting for their retirement benefits, Police barracks throughout PNG being eaten away by termites, Hospital buildings breaking into pieces, No tables and chairs for primary schools in rural areas, 40 million US dollars of landowners royalty monies kept away in a foreign bank account in Singapore, 200 million NADP monies for farmers in rural areas being stolen, + many more.
I foresee that the majority of the voting population will support my idea if it is planned properly and the strategies are implemented professionally.
On the subject of corruption in our country, I still maintain that; this disease called "corruption" is NOT our culture. It has been brought in from the western world hence there can be a WAY to address it, if not get rid of it, if there is a WILL.
I believe that, A NEW DAWN WILL BREAK FOR THE PEOPLE OF PNG if the above is considered seriously.
GOD BLESS PNG.

Support the idea of "National Boycott" in 2012 National General Election

The idea of National Boycott the coming National Election in Papua New Guinea is important and must be considered.
The ongoing neglect of national politicians to bring vital services to the rural and urban communities is becoming so severe and affecting the livelihood of the people. There are very serious issues of; corruptions in Waigani, social and crime problems, higher prices of goods and services etc...are things that needs to be considered.
Spread the news across Papua New Guinea to boycott the coming National Election - 2012
