A group of Papua New Guinea Government ministers was attacked during talks with landowners on the multi-billion dollar liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the PNG highlands.

PNG's Petroleum and Energy Minister William Duma, State Enterprises Minister Arthur Somare, Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch, Southern Highlands Governor Anderson Agiru and several provincial were pelted with stones in the Southern Highlands by a mob of angry landowners.

The ministers were in Tari with the officials from ExxonMobil, the PNG LNG project's lead developer, to kick off licensed base benefit sharing forums with affected landowners in the province.

Developers and the Government are required to obtain guarantees from landowners before the developers could be issued a petroleum development license.

A mob of angry and disgruntled landowners hurled rocks, sticks and missiles at the group of officials.

That happens when you're ignorant and dosn't come down to listen to the small people's pleas. Expect more of this nature in the coming weeks as head toward the LNG kick off...

That is excellent news. Burn the Parliament house too.

PNG politicians(except Powes Parkop)are greedy and only think about filling up their pockets when they become MP's.
