Sir Michael Somare to exemplary politician

February 14 2011 at 2:42 PM
MUNO!

You may call him corrupt and nepotist, but lets be frank, he indeed is one of t he finest politicians to ever set foot in parliament. He has his priorities right since the first they he took office. I feel disgusted seeing numerous new mps coming into Power and already they have 3 four wives from Hanuabada or Australia, or Fiji. While Somare the longest serving member has only one wife, with no dirty track records. His attitude towards bringing in more miners has been deemed by many as corrupt, self centered, etc. But the truth is , sacrifices must be made in order for advancement, and only a leader with vision will be able to see that. The idea is that someone will be blamed in history when things go wrong, you see Somare Knows he wont live forever, bY being this adamant he has now incite the development of some find leaders like Sam Basil etc, and when the nation has enough wealth he will be gone and this young leaders will develop this nation to greater lengths..

LONG LIVE MY SUKUNDUMI
ALL HAIL SIR MICHEAL SOMARE

@Stret Toka

I think this all needs to be proved. You can't judge someone by heresay.

I cannot praise him as well, because I don't even know if he is clean.

But on the outset, he has done wonders with political stability.....
If he can have one woman as a wife.... then to me this is proof that he holds a certain level of credibility that he feels he needs to maintain.

They say behind every sucessful man is a good woman.....and I believe Lady Somare is a women of honour and Chief Somare holds her in high regard.

liklik tingting tasol

Me....just a few short highlights
1. Motigate
2. Threatening to kill a member of parliment in session
3. Singapore bank accounts and 40 million missing
4. Recently, Kina 116 million to MPs so the vote of no confidence doesnt proceed
5. Houses in Australia
6. Nepotism of family members to political posts....the list goes on!

I judge a politician by there actions not their words or how long they have stayed with their wife.
What real tangible benefits has this man brought to the people of PNG? Where is the basic infrastructure to support development? Why does PNG have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world ? Why do we still have to live behind razor wire ? Idiots like Somare have done little to improve the quality of life, materially and socially. Instead they pat themselves on the back and slap on titles to apease their ego's and steal from the wealth of our nation.

Do you really think he is not corrupt?

....the millions of Kina Private Jet while our relatives in the villages are climbing mountains, after mountains just to get to the main clinic (because the nearest aidpost hasnt existed for the past nth years) just to get antimalarials and panadol? wake up ppl! Somare's priority is deteriorationg with his age. Time to Step aside old man. Pasim blo Pride and say PNG can afford a jet coz we are not poor, cmon who is he kidding?? me? you? definately himself!

this is an example of HOW he manage his priority

Walk around the streets of POM and see more beggers than before, more settlements. Run down schools, run down aidpost ( or none at all) and major hospitals need upgrading etc....maski hard lo toktok, we are moving backwards. Since the beginnning of his term and hopefully the last he has done nothing to improve the standard of living... He should step out of the his circle of comfort and LOOK outside and see how everyone is struggling to survive. Only then can we say he is really for the people.

Go ask an old man lo ples and he would tell you its worse now then when the australians and british where in governence..

Something to ponder on.........

Him and his croonies are selling PNG at an extremely dangerous speed.

Thanks for your comments, Bertha. No student who sees their options in life going down the toilet would possibly take the elderly leader's side. That's why we know that you're no student!

Alot of problems we are facing in this country is because of everybody.
We have an attitude problem. We expect Politicians to change out lives. No wonder the handout mentality is leading to corruption everywhere.
Don't make comparision to asians. They work hard.Thats why labour in Asia is cheap and big coporations go there. In the long run, the economy is driven by such.
We work little and expect big money. We like to sit back and blame the Politicians for all our problems. If we can assist the police with information of criminals, we will reduce crime in PNG. Crooks live among us, yet we turn a blind eye and allow such evil to rise and later blame the Gov't for law and order problems.
We break into clinics and health centres, burn down schools, vandalise public properties like bridges, sign boards, bus stops and then later blame the Govt.
Its true that the Govt is corrupt but there are some ways where we can make life better for us but we have an attitude problem.

@ Stret Toka

I don't want to defend Somare here as I don't know whether all your points are valid or not.

However, I suggest that if you are really serious, why don't you pay him a visit and ask him yourself? This is a democratic country and every citizen has the right to question his elected leader and even the Prime Minister.

Venting out on the web achieves nothing....please do make an effort to ask him

mE.......puleeeeeese! all these points I have mentioned have been reported in newspapers, Transparency International, The Ombudsmans Commision, Parlimentary records, Treasury Reports, Supreme Court.......what else do you need besides a reality check to see the blatant and ugly truth about this man. Pull your head out of the sand!

Of course my points are valid because they are backed up by credible organisations with qualitative evidence! I dont need to ask him (how ridiculous)as the public records speak volumes about the lack of integrity and character of this parasite.

The public of Egypt started venting out there anger via the web.....now they have overthrown a 30 year old corrupt regime......was that a waste of time?

Time for you to take off the rose coloured glasses.

Stret Toka you have the right to prove all those allegations against the chief. I'd like you to go out and clean the beatlenut stains at the bus stops and everywhere. Tell those sellers to go to designated markets, Tell the buses to complete their routes, tell the passengers to pay full fares, tell the boss crew not to harrase school kids, Tell your wantoks not to claim unnecessary compensation and the list goes on....And remember a family unit is the fabric of the society...Mary one wife. PM shows you the example

Obviously the reason why no one is going to ask Somare directly is that (a) he's hiding behind his security guards and fences from the general public and (b) he and Lady Veronica kidnap and slap around some of their opponents. It's called intimidation and suppression.

And that will mean removing him from power from his electoral seat.
If he gets past the East Sepik seat, trust me, he will still be a force to reckon with in Parl.
His ability to draw ppl will still be there. Even right now in the midst of all the controvercies, ppl stillhang around him. Maybe NA's money is doing the trick but you have to admit that he himself is also a factor

If Hitler had been your leader, you'd still be talking about voting him out next election

March 5 2011, 8:38 PM

You all are truly pathetic. You've missed the plot, lost the boat, you don't smell the coffee, or must be some other problem if you can't see that our elections are rigged and Somare or his cronies will stay in power indefintely unless you get that nonsense out of your head about throwing him out of office democratically. Somare's not a democrat. He's become a pseudo dictator. Democratic responses have been tried since 2002 and they don't work and they won't. Either we start thinking outside the box or we'll have this fool and all his thieves around until PNG has nothing more to be stolen.

Look around at what's been happening in the middle east and wonder to yourself why we act so helpless and lazy when people under much more threat to losing their life than we'll ever be have risen up and overthrown their governments.

Kaikai bilong tingting.

Why are we crying like little kids who had their lollies taken by a bully!

I don't necessarily agree a lot of the things that Somare has done but I understand that he is in a position that he does not need to care what people think. Somare is a champion in the polical game. Like the Melbourne Storms in the NRL. He knows how to win. As it is said "winners make the rules"

The sad fact is that everyone else - so called leaders can't play the game like he can. The only way to beat him is to play the game better than Somare. You can't win by whinging to the ref and to the crowd. Train harder, develop better strategies and play harder.

This is a challenge to the future leaders of PNG.
