Does the recent reaction from the crowd in Mendi towards Anderson Agiru ring any bells?
It brings one question to my mind if ordinary people on the ground are very much
aware of the game our politicians play. If that's so, is Hon. Agiru loosing his popularity??
The good people of Kundiawa/Gembogl displayed maturity in selecting their leader through what
was deemed a successful and peaceful election...that may be a good sign of people understanding
Well it seems the SHP regional seat will be a very hot seat to contest come 2012...good luck
to all vying for that seat...
Don't believe the hype that Anderson Agiru creates. Tell me what has he done for SHP? What has he done for Tari?
An absent governor who rules from Crowne Plaza or Cairns or wherever. For a man as smart as he thinks he is, with all the resources from Southern Highlands Province. Don't forget that SHP had Hides and Kutubu & Gobe operating at peak capacity for the last 10 years. Where has that money gone? Tari - the future capital of Tari was like a district outpost. Only recently with the advent of the LNG project has there been some changes.
Don't tell me that he bought in the LNG as well. The LNG project would have happenned anyway due to the forces of global supply & demand. Large deposits of LNG are plentiful in Asia, Indonesia, Timor & Australia. given the window period and our geographical location plus the existing Hides & Kutubu operations, Exxon moved in. There was a window of opportunity to supply into China & Japan by 2014 so that site that can meet this window was PNG.
With Politics as well, he got outplayed by Duma & Polye so now he has no party and has misled the other SHP MP's to forsake their Souths brother who is the current PM.
As I said - don't beleive the hype. Souths need an ACTION MAN, we have had enough of people who talk too much but deliver little.
O'Neil is a nobody. He was lucky to be PM so the Mendi public who knew it was a mistake just cheered him on. Agiru is more powerful in SHP than O'Neil. The crown was so emotional because O'Neil came into power by mistake..and went wild over this..otherwise Agiru reigns
The new government and the people are still on their honeymoon..their making love and spending up the supplementary budget for their expenses..After the honeymoon and reality kicks in..then people who have withstood the political test of time like Agiru will remain standing
We will let Peter O'Neil back to parliament unopossed come 2012 that's no question on that...no SHighlander has become PM since independence and Peter O'Neil has done it...Agiru has been dreaming all his life of becoming PM and he just cant, he is good at carrying brief case for Somare and southern highlanders have no confidence in him, he is just another puppet, did you all read on the paper last Thursday in Mendi, he was trying to make some speach and was shouted down by the whole public, they know who he is, his colours have faded....sorry tumas Agiru yu no nap traim na compete wantaim O'Neil....yu liklik boi tumas...
A selfish man is no different to a pig - they never change

@Wan, I'am sure your education must be very modest because seriously mate, you sound like a complete puff.
I live in Mendi, the capital of the resource hub of this country and over the last ten years; ten years when Anderson Agiru was governor; ten years when Kutubu, Hides and GObe were at peak production, the business hub of the province has seen nothing but deterioration.
The Evares, kaguas, pangias, taris, kopiagos, komos, nipas and even kutubus live as though western civilization is still a million light years away. Why do you think thi is so? Because Mr. Agiru believes tht it is OK to live that way while he embezzles the millions and millions of dollars somewhere in Cairns or Townsville for his own benefit. Wan, if this is measure of your powerhouse Agiru, I envy you pal.
o'NEIL became pm becasue he was lucky to be supported by duma and polye who were desperate for money to fund 2012 elections..wait na lookim, 2012 tupla ya bai dumpim o'neil and they themselves willl become pm..
o'neil em kago boy na tool nating blo ol ya...trust me, agiru will come stronger and more pwerfull come 2012.
he is aiming for the PM post and will get it with his URP party.
em laugh lo liklik mangi tactics o'neil applyim. Just for the remaining six or seven months chol na o'neil bai paitim bros na raunraun stap!!
2012 em bai grand final battle blo PM bai kamap ya...funny narapla samting....Whait and see fellas
Agiriu is the most wonderful leader, deeply God fearing and totally corrupt

Look at you - you're thinking as much like a child as those you're supposedly laughing at.
Actually all the SHP politicians are laughing at you because they can see they've found another gullible voter who will complain about one corrupt pollie then turn around and vote for another who is even more corrupt.
You're a fine example of why PNG is in such a sad state regarding wholesale corruption and poor leadership. The pollies know all they have to do is grisim yu na bai yu votim ol.
IPMEND - when you say that it will be URP vs. NA. Mate which URP were you talking about? Anderson got kicked out of URP, the party which he founded.
as I said, forget the hype and judge by the results. If you want a good comparison compare Anderson vs. Ipatas. Ipatas does not go around pretending to be so intelligent etc. He just gets things done. He has his own issues but at least he can say that he is responsible for free education and other developments in Enga.
Kick him out, kick all his cronies out. Letís start fresh and rebuild SHP and achieve itís destiny of greatness.
How will SHP ever become the powerhouse of PNG so long as we continue letting oil and gas companies rip us off?
How many years did power lines go from Hides Gas to Pogera, giving a constant cheap source of power to the mine, all those lines passing overhead at Tari and Tari was struggling to keep diesel in the generators? All we did was grumble about this, Hides gas let us grumble and nothing changed for how many years. Was it 10? 15?
How much longer will we let the beautiful expat compound for the LNG project become ever more beautified while just outside the gates, nothing has changed, roads are lousy, no development that can be seen?
Are we going to let OilSearch suck out the last of SHP's main reservoirs of oil before we wake up and notice that billions of barrels of oil are gone yet the villages around Kutubu look just like they did 30 years ago. Are we going to let them continue to enjoy the cheap diesel and kero from their refinery while communities around them pay sky high prices?
We can never become a powerhouse so long as we let ourselves get ripped of like this. The companies buy off our SHP leaders either directly or indirectly. Once the SHP politicians live in comfort off stolen public funds they are the last to speak out IN ANY MEANINGFUL WAY against the oil and gas pirates.
Again and again we have shown the foreign resource companies that we can be easily bought off, manipulated, and silenced.
Please, my friend, give me any evidence at all that this situation is ending. I see no change.
I understand where you are coming from however let us not put all the blame on the leaders only. Yes Agiru has not performed and he should go.
Also, our provincial governement - provincial public service machinery is corrupt to the core. Corruption has become ingrained that we now think of different posts as tribal rewards etc. Provincial Administrator. Where you have SHP provincial governement employees still collecting pay whilst residing in Port Moresby.
You say you see no change - I say, we can make it happen. We earn our own rice bag, we don't need to bow down to anyone. We can speak up to whoever we come in contact with. We can change the attitude of Southern Highlanders. But it will take more than one person. If more and more of us start speaking up and leading by example in whichever small way we can, I beleive we can change.
Why I say this is because no one else is going to come and help us!!!!
Souths people, it's also going to take massive demonstrations, even violence to make the change at this point. Sad but true - you've let things go on for far too long and now change will only come at a steep price. ExxonMobil basically considers all of you to be annoying mosquitoes that have to be swatted now and then while continuing the more important work. You'll never get them to really stand up and take notice without some very strong responses. None of you are willing to do that. Instead you'll continue sitting at your computer & type away.
children, this forum is good for discussing & debating points and clarifying ideas. If you don't have anything to say then please don't spoil the thread of discussions and go to another site more suitable for your tastes!!!
U right, make realistic constructive arguments. Dont call leaders names like ahole etc.
All u all are aholes... upela fit ok come challange GOvernor Agiru at 2012. Weather it be SHP or Hela.
You all are all small boys,,,like flies save bianim pekpek blo dog round. Name your candidates and join the like to challange governor.
If not, all of you are small boys
Seems all or most of the posts here is totally out of the topic I posted. Lets have some sense back (if we have lost it) and discuss the matter at hand. If you can access the internet, you are educated to a level that some people look up to and admire. And if we start posting silly comments and ideas that is equivalent to how an ordinary villager can also come up with, i am afraid, we are no different...if we can wear a gentle man suit and drive around in our own car and consider ourselves bikpla mangi, we should be feeling guilty for our childish behavior.
Agiru was a respected leader. Agiru was full of wisdom and performed very well in some sacred areas. Anderson is not Agiru. Anderson is Pawa. Anderson Pawa was a respected leader all through. He is a good leader. Momei Oval's action was just to please our prime minister. However, people are angry about his securities, secretaries, project officers from the Eastern block. From noway some of this idiots come around with dark flashy vehicles. When they are stopped to talk to them, they act as the governor and tell us to make an appoinment. Who are these f....idiots? Sorry Anderson,he lost his popularity because of his con-people with him to carry his brief case. Not this time. Not even in the Hela area. Anderson is nobody in Hela. Put him back to contest for the SHP but not for the Hela. The con people who go around with Anderson are from SHP, especially his mama line. You have laid Anderson down. Agiru was a good leader and he was from Hela but has passed on few years ago.
