It would appear that currently, the government, aspiring politicians and other intersts are more focused on the LNG Project and its anticipated benefits and nothing else. Intending candidlates are saying that this election is important because billions of kina will be coming into the country as of 2014 therefore whoever gets into Parliament will see that these funds are fairly disttributed and managed. Whilst this may be a true statement in the short term, it could be misleading as there are other traditional foreign income earners that we may over look and ignore them. Coffee, cocoa, timber, fish and copra have beeen traditional export earners that are still silently bringing in millions of kina into the country and creating employment opportunities both directly and indirectly to litterly thousands of PNG'ans who would otherwise not be employed.
Why the fuss about LNG Project which has alive span and only benefits land owners within the enclaves of the project? We must achnowledge and nurture these industries as they will still be around when LNG Project close.
Good comments are welcome!
