I suspect (based only on employment figures that) most americans pay taxes whereas almost no Papua New Guineans pay taxes. So start gathering the facts before you make conclusions. Tax rates can always be lower when a greater percentage of the population pays taxes.
prices of goods and services is hiking. In order to meet the demand I worked extra hard day n night yet tax still rips me more from my extra duties and after hours/OT claims. Can this taxation thing be fixed on normal gross and leave my OT/extra duties claims alone. For the sake of PNG some body please help...
It is interesting you've raised Taxes. This is a means of government revenue including all the other revenue from mines, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, Visa, and other government business arms etc. The old Testament had Romans wondering why the Jews were so rich despite being slaves. The Jews had tiths, offering, giving to poor and were saving also for their children. That is when the Romans introduce tax and we still live it this day. Australian Politician pay Taxes too. Is our PNG polies paying taxes? PNG tax system is a disgrace, no check and balance and the crooks are enjoying.
These rates can be tweaked a bit. If you're a high income earner in PNG you pay 42% in income tax - this is very high for such a low return of basic services. But that figure doesnt include the 10% gst we all pay over the counter. So higher earners are handing more than 50% of their income to the government before making payments on home loans, groceries, school feel, medical, etc.
We are all slaves to the government, our wives, our employers, and the banks. They all get their share before we do, and we are forced to live off the crumbs :-(
If struggling people didnt complain there would never have been a boston tea party.
The government would assume we were okay with being stepped on and eventually take it all.
Give it a few more years and they will be trying to tax you and I for the air we breathe.
