Parkop answers your question for Anti \parkops

parkop answers

We are focused and fair

With the general election in progress, it is common for candidates and their supporters to accuse the incumbent of all the failures in the World. While that is usual, I want to encourage candidates and their supporters to be objective a bit and not be blinded by their own self serving criticisms and agendas in their commentaries and campaigns. Your correspondent who conveniently hides under the pen name “Neglected and downtrodden” (30/3/12) sadly has allowed his bias to get the better of his sense.
The fact in that in the four years of my term, I have been balanced in dealing with all the various issues and challenges facing our City and not just focusing on beautification.
The facts are as follows:
•In the last four years we have built, sealed and rehabilitated 167 roads at a cost of K246.3 million. There has not been any let up since 2007 and we continue to build, reseal and seal as we go to the election;
•In Education, we have spent over K50 million in the last four years building 66 classrooms, 14 teachers houses and 12 ablution blocks at a cost of over K40 million; We have spent over K500,000 to provide over 300 computers to our secondary and vocational centres over the last 4 years; We have spent over K5 millon over the last four years on technical and vocational college scholarship awarding over 6000 technical and vocational scholarship to our children to get technical skill. Many of these young men and women who would not have a chance to build a better future now have hope for a better future. We have through our own program and through partnership with NGOs like Ginigoada Business Foundation, provided short terms skills training to more than 20,000 young men and women and adults;
•Through Yumi Lukautim Moresby Program and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, found full and part time employment for over 8000 young men and women. This include some who had no work skills or qualification at all prior to placement; We have also secured a loan worth more than K45 million from the World Bank to spend over the next fives years to provide training, job and business opportunity to youths in the city. This is to enhance our skills training program and job security for young people in our city; Over the last 3 years, we have awarded over K300,000 worth of micro finance to small businessmen and women, church, youth and community based organisations in the city; We have managed to upgrade Tokarara High School to secondary level and we are now constructing a new secondary school at the Pacific Adventist University opposite Marianville Secondary School;
•We have invested over K8 million in sports building community sports infrastructures and in promoting sporting talents and competition under the policy of sports for development. The result of before all to see; To make sports available to all including the adults and elderly, we have over the last four years build over 40 mini sports park in various suburbs, settlement and communities in Port Moresby. These sport parks all have volley ball, basket ball and netball courts;
•Over the last four years, we have tried to make our city a city where children can grow up to be children. Having space of their own, to play and enjoy their childhood. Towards this end, we have over 32 children’s play area at a cost of about K3 million where children can play and have fun with each other and with their parents; We have spend over K4million to counter the spread of HIV AIDS in the last four years and we have managed to reduced the prevenance rate from 2 every 100 to 1 every 400 or 500 person; Over the past four years using different approaches and incentives and working with police and other stakeholders we have managed to reduce opportunity crime by 50 to 60 percent;
•We have allocated over K3 million over the last four years to enable as many communities as possible without water to have access but to date used only K2 million due to hinderance by Eda Ranu, the water utility company. To help ease commuting problems for workers and school children in the city, we have set up a parallel public transport bus service utilising donated buses from the Brisbane City Council. This has been a free service running at peak hours for the two years. We are now purchasing six more new buses to enhance this service for our school children and the working population;
•In the beautification program we also enable over 2000 men and women to be engaged in cleaning up and beautifying our city week in week out. In the long term a clean, beautiful, peaceful and hygienic city will improve peoples, self esteem, improve our image, attract investment, attract tourist etc;
•We have invested heavily too in making the night safe and reclaiming that space from fear and criminals by holding the Christmas New Year programs, Friday night football big screen program and the night markets. This is also about our people, their security, their quality of life and their welfare;
•We have also set up the Haus Krai Insurance Scheme where ordinary people can get some insurance cover to enable them to give their love ones a decent funeral sends off;
•We have started the process to upgrade settlement and convert them to proper suburbs by engaging surveyors to survey the 8 mile land and create sections and allotments so that title can be created and awarded to current residents. This will extend to other communities.
I can go on and on but the point is that contrary to the blind comments by your downtrodden correspondent we have been fair and balance in terms of developing our city in the last 4 years. We have not just focused on beautification but also on social, economic, safety and other issues affecting our people, especially in creating opportunity for our young people. Your correspondent is either blind or psychologically down trodden; he cannot get himself to admit the facts.

Sir,

you naive idiot. Parkop is a visionary leader. I will vote for him. This is a contemporary city, not for lunatic settlers. Educated and successful people who work, own properties and run businesses in this city need, a park to spend their weekends, nice roads to drive their nice and expensive cars, clean streets to walk, convenient shopping malls to shop and spend money, great night life to count the stars after work and feel proud of their achievements.

This is what Powes is envisaging not a way back village city, come on wake up!!! We are about to see millionaires from landowners, to real estates tycoons, self made business owners in this city not losers like you who cry foal every time leaders make hard decisions to serve their constituencies

Settlement will be removed when Parkop wins, they should be in the fringes of the city with no rights to vote and choose, they are scavengers feeding off the spoils of hard working city rate payers.

Great leaders come when their time is right, Powes is the leader of the moment, you step aside and let him lead you into greatness.

Money well spent has to be well made by the service provider, there is no trouble in that transaction, Justin makes his money because he can provide the bloody best landscaping ideas and services, my rate money is well spent, I am happy, settlers pay no tax yet demand as if they own this city.

Mask faol nambaut ah?

Toks Valley.

There are changes taking place in the city, changes that RATE payers can see and feel, changes that are a result of Powes Parkops management. These changes were NOT evident when past Governors governed - with due respect to them, because their focus was somewhere else during their reign.

If any of the Governor hopeful can deliver on what Powes has started or better the performance - thats all good BUT unfortunately for me and most is a case of staying with the "DEVIL WE KNOW".

Power has done no wrong - off course governor hopefuls and their supporters can accuse Power of all sorts of inuendos and pass blame but unless they have proof but better still a better alternative for the RATE PAYERS - then they are wasting their time and our time.

Chauka - your figure of 80% of people against Parkop is all wishful thinking. Yu kisim namba yah we ?? - Wait until the results are announced and you better look for something else to do if you are thinking of making a future in being a political analyst.

I think you have got it horribly wrong.

Meet Kickback Powes!!!!!!

June 2 2012, 1:26 AM

Powes, not once have you explained the odd K100,000 payment to the car hire company.

Or the multimillion kina overpriced bill for that road sealant.

You defended yourself once on the internet and very weakly, avoiding very deliberately any explanation of the weird audit details of NCDC.

And then you ran away from the internet.

They don't call you "Kickback Powes" for nothing, do they?

yah yah, fat Farkop. You've been stealing money and covering it up with all these supposed good deeds. Anyone driving around Moresby is wondering where all these new and repaired roads are-actually, you only give the amount, which is excessive for so little road repair. That's why you wouldn't give the number of kilometres.

Your a konman, fat Farkop. The question is whether enough of the electorate is smart enough to figure out the little games that you and Gay Justin are playing.

Don't worry, Parkop will still win because (a) most voters in NCD are ai gris people, impressed with a bit of rubbish cleanup and a waterfall, and (b) Powes has the money to buy votes.

Stay tuned. He will win.

Parkop must and will win

June 4 2012, 9:33 AM

I say it again, Powes is not a village politician, he is head of an educated and smart population, you need smart leaders to be at the top. People are worried about few cents spent along the way to greatness, a man got to feed his family, so what? The reality is this, Port Moresby or the National Capital, is the the melting pot of PNG if not the Pacific, all decisions are made in Pom.

All politicians, have their families and homes in pom, most big time business people live in Pom, most very educated people live in pom.

That is why Powes is a leader of these people facets of PNG people, not settlers, and street kids.

get the message? Powes will win on first count.

Toks Valley....

Don't worry.

Parkop will win because he has the money and the contacts to fix the election.

It doesn't matter how many votes he gets or doesn't get. You can rest easy and have an SP. Powes is absolutely guaranteed to win.

Lucky Parkop isn't contesting in a country that actually prosecutes corrupt leaders.
