| What do you think in democretic conutries around the world, which Papua New Guinea is one of them. Were everybody regardless of status or power have the freedom of speech, to express themselves and have equal rights as everyone to participate and live. and to obey simple instructions without favor or fear...Iam a bit confuse!!!! Is it the CONSTITUTION that give them that rights or the MAJORITY RULES??? |

There are basic human rights that the world now expects each country to incorporate into their national constitutions. "Majority rules" is not such a right, not even necessarily in a democratic society. Ruling by conscensus, with a bigman as the facilitator, was common in our traditional melanesian society and that is even more democratic than "majority rules". |
