Who are the ELITES in PNG? What does this word really mean?

CORRECTION It's a word that people who have gone to school a lot of years, maybe traveled overseas, and discovered that they're actually quite dumb, stupid and uneducated, use. They use the term 'elite' to try and hide the fact that they have little education to show for all those years to spend in school. The word makes them look important anyway. Usually you'll hear 2 words used together: "educated elite". Again the purpose is to make a pretense that some people are smart when they're actually not, and that they're better than everyone else when actually they're at the same level.
Do you agree?

I agree fully with your explanation. I was expecting such comments from a thinking person. It is shameful how people including journalists in our newspapers misuse the word with little thought.
There are hardly any elites in PNG the way we carry on in these blogs and society in general. We use the word loosely thinking that any liklik education and trip overseas elevates our status as elites. It doesn't.
Please, think before using that word the next time. I cringe each time people throw in that word carelessly into their discussions.
PNG elites. What a joke.

The people here who carelessly throw the word into conversations are the very ones who would use the term to refer to themselves in an intended self important way. In short, the dominant person here on Scape would be of that type. I can guarantee you that if those people even bother to click into this thread, they'll quickly leave it because they don't want to read anything that might possibly make them think.
