| What an under used resource Colzium Estate is, I was there for a picnic on Sunday and it was beatiful, however there are a couple of things that would make it better
1 A play area for children - similar to the chutes etc at Burngreen
2 Aproper tea room and clean toilets
3 Control on open air disco's that come from the open doors of cars.
I am not sure who is responsible for the Colzium, however if it is to become the attraction it deserves to be then maybe the powers that be can look at the above.
ps The picnic tables at the Curling Pond could do with being fixed |

i whole heartally agree with you; so lets hope for big things up there ; they have promised big money to be spent but the grounds should get most of it for nice facilities like swings- cafe -pet corner and the house to be open every day ; i;m up there every day and sit for a bit so to get a cup of tea or a sandwich at the big house would be a treat indeed;
they used to have a room open for people who wanted to sit inside that should be brought back; with reading material and games to pass the time of day with other people; no askin much eh------comone---any wan listning;

According to the Chronicle, NLC has announced an investment of £800,000 at Colzium which should attract around £4M of partnership funding in total, to be spent over the 2004-6 period.
I have seen the planning application - it involves better disabled access, (a lift) a new visitor centre attached to the clock theatre, a major landscape improvement to the courtyard and so on - keep an eye on the Chronicle for more details. Initial response is very positive. Looks like things are starting to move at last! |

800,00 will bring 4milion in funds; what kind of partnership are we getting; is it the same private funding were getting to build schools in scotland which the public will be paying for the next 50yrs; at a total cost of five times the cost of the project its;elf;
lets not go down that road; what a millstone we are leaving for our grand-children;

No we are talking clever money here - Coalfields Regeneration Trust, European slurp funds, Lottery, all that kind of stuff. This is much too small for a PPP scheme - they cost £5M just for the consultants fees to set them up! | |
