I have a copy of a parish birth register from 1865. The boy, John Abercrombie, was born 2 January 1865. I can read part of the "where"...sort of. It says Backbr.... in Kilsyth. If any of you know what that is supposed to say, would you please e-mail me at: springdaleia@yahoo.com
I don't know if this is a place in Kilsyth, or perhaps the name of a hospital? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Thelma in the US

Backbrae is and was a street in Kilsyth. it ran off main street to nowhere. I have been researching my own family and have found referencies to Backbrae. Possibly our recent family members were neighbours. Recent being in the 1850s

bob
