My Kilsyth – by Bow Wow and Rob

Sorry folks, I dont usually resort to poetry (or doggerel) but I couldnt resist penning this after reading Bow-wows recent post:

Bow-wow:
“Looking at the local rag, there’s not much going down
Civic week was good but there’s no other show in town
The summer months are here again, where can I take the kids?
We used to have the highland games, but then they hit the skids
Why haven’t we got five-a-side, or tennis courts for use?
Our teenagers just hang about, they hit the dope and booze
They get in fights and make a mess, they must be getting bolder,
Has Kilsyth lost its spirit or is it just me getting older?”

Rob:
“This great wee town still has a heart, if you know how to find it
Its true that life has changed, since when they closed the pit
Its cleaner now, the air is pure, the grass is green not brown
We old guys now can buy a drink, this was a thirsty town!
The bare old setts have been replaced with sandstone and with granite
The whole town now can take some pride, we’re finally on the planet
And as for summer, well the best is yet to come
August 13th, all afternoon, the Carnivals such fun!”
