From our perspective as Greens, coming in third out of six was a very good result as this is the first time we have ever contested the seat: turnout was 2947, which is 32% - not bad at all considering the atrocious weather, but then Kilsyth folk are very civic-minded. Turnout in May 2007 was 59%.

The results:

Labour: 1855 (63%)
SNP: 891 (30%)
Greens: 66 (2.24%)
Conservatives: 50 (1.7%) (2007: 260 votes )
Scottish Socialists: 48 (1.6%) (2007: 162 votes)
Lib Dems: 17 (0.6%) (didn't put up a candidate in 2007)

Thanks for the excellent support. I feel very encouraged and clearly our policies resonated with the more independently-minded voters in North Lanarkshire. It's a good start on which to build.

Cheers,
Rob
