Response to parry vs block
It ends up a parry because I'm lazy and my opponent isn't coming hard enough in practice. As the action, so the response. If someone comes after me that block is going to get a lot more block like but the hand will likely still become a check in case control becomes a necessary modification. Really all I'm saying is that if you step back you're not doing sleeper, thundering hammers or dance of death anymore. You're modifying the weapons of attacking mace as a function of target availability. You miss learning the lesson of slipping outside the punch using an inward block.
