Great to hear from you brother! He's been studying Kenpo with me for a little over 5 1/2 years. Prior to that he studied tae kwon do and ju jitsu and is a great natural athelete. I think you may have met him at the IKCA seminar last summer in Vegas. He was a brown belt but GM LeRoux allowed him to work out in the black belt seminar classes after working with him when Vic visited Vegas scouting for a semiar location. Our school teaches the 24 tech. American Kenpo system, in addition to the IKCA curriculum. My first black belt was in American Kenpo and many years later I earned rank with the IKCA as well, so I exposed this kid to both systems, although he did Am. Kenpo for about 3 years before learning IKCA techniques. He has additionally learned the IKCA system and will be submitting a seperate test for rank with them under their testing requirements, which as you know, are dictated by their by-laws and require a separate test format. This particular test is only for rank through our school. Good luck with the Kenpo in the Carolinas 2008. Wish I could make it. Is the IKCA planning anything for next summer on the West Coast to your knowledge? If so, maybe Jeff and I will see you there. We missed this year's event because we both had to work. If I lost my day job, I wouldn't be able to afford to keep the school open. LOL. Funny how a lot of us have to work 40 to 50 hours a week doing something else we don't like doing, so we can spend another 4 to 5 hours a day doing kenpo, something we love doing. I wish I could reverse it!! YBIK John K.
